Dead Laptop... how to fix?

thank you very much.
will speak to her about replacing the mobo and processor. For the sake of £15 i don't think it's worth skimping.
i have never stripped a laptop before but have abuild a few desktops myself. I take it the principles are simialr and it will be a fairly easy DIY job to change the mobo? The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

TBH i would spend the extra 15 and do the lot in one go.
with a laptop just take your time, and be very brave.. Ive had the screen out of £1000 laptop today and had to prise the edges with a flat head screwdriver to release the little catches around the screen.......
but your doing a mobo so shouldnt need to go near the screen, someone posted the service guide for your laptop, download and have a good read to work out what goes where, print the screw listing page and as you take them out put them in that section of the paper.... also once something is free from the laptop dont take it all the way off until you have checked for wires or ribbon cables that are attached. (Keyboard, top strip, mouse pad etc)
If you happen to live near wigan / skelmersdale drop it off and Il fit the mobo for a can or two of fosters.0 -
Download the service manual PDF from the link I posted earlier - it gives step by step details.
It's the same principle as a desktop, but everything is more compact and delicate. Things have to be done in the correct order, and the all the right screws undone etc - but the guide will help there.
If you see anything that looks tricky when you are taking it apart, take a photo -it's a great memory jogger when you are trying to put it back.0
