Got a contract phone but changed my mind
I got a contract Nokia N97 today from Vodafone. I've opened the phone, messed around with it for a while and I'm really not liking it.
Even though I've opened it and removed the seal on the box and plastic cover on the screen, can I return it and cancel the contract?

If you got it via the web, you can return it within 7 days - will have to pay for any call/text/data usage you made.0

No you cannot return the phone and cancel the contract. If bought in store you have the chance to examine the phone etc before purchasing, if over the web/phone you can under distance selling regulations.0

Is there not a 'cooling off period'? hmm.0

Try doing it with a new motor car! People need to understand the consequences of entering into a contract. The time to reflect is before you buy.
If people checked the signal out, read users' reviews on the phone they want, tried it out in the shop and reflected on whether or not they could still afford the monthly payment if they lost their job, then the forum would have far fewer posts.
This may seem harsh, but it is reality.
Unless you are 100% sure, go PAYG or sim free and remember the latest phones are tomorrow's bangers.0 -

Looks like an expensive mistake, considering they want £960 to cancel the contract now.0

Its harsh but i agree, i went around and tried the phones before going into a contract.
Try taking it back and say you are not happy with the phone, you maybe able to switch phones.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
