hoping someone can help me here.

Brought a new phone on thursday from orange on PAYG.

I am already with orange so they said they would transfer my number to new SIM and phone - as i had to top up on the new sim card in order to get the phone 4 that price.

When i got home - some stuff on the phone made me dislike it and of course i culdnt get a refund on the phone even though the man on the day sed i culd and the other man the next day sed they dnt do 14 day returns blah blah and all his staff know tht - (thats another story - made me out to be like a liar - the man did say that - no customer care watsoever)

Anyways i want to keep my existing number and phone and i believe my number is currently being transferred to the new sim so do you know how long it takes to transfer over?

And if it gets transferred over to i have to re transfer the number to my SIM and current phone or does the IMEI number of the phone and such not make a difference and just put the new sim back into my old phone? Sorry im a bit confused myself so basically at the moment the number is still on my old sim and the new sim is not in any phone and i just dont suddenly want my sim in the phone to not work because the number wuld have transferred to the new sim card because i cant keep checking if the phone and Sim works. :(

sorry for the complicated- ness. :(

Your I's and O's not working?

The Sim can be swapped between phones, if thats what you are asking - you do not need to do anything about IMEI (thats unique to a phone).

PS - sed is a programming language, please use SAID instead :p

If you're on the same network as your old phone, the all you should need to do is put new SIM in old phone.

Thanks and sorry i will use SAID next time :P

Yeah basically when the number gets transferred to the new SIM i want to put it back into my old phone. But at the moment the New SIM is not in any phone.

Do you know how long it takes for the number to transfer to the new Sim?

I just didn't want my current Sim to deactivate without me realising there was no number on it anymore.

It normally takes 24 to 48 hours, but the changeover is instantaneous - so just keep using the old sim till it stops working.

Although thinking about it - if you are with the same network - there is nothing to port - your old sim should work forever.

If however, they really are swapping your number to the new sim, just keep an eye out when the old one stops working, stick the new one in.

Ok i guess i will just have to make sure the old one is still working....the old sim should still work? Really but there will be no number on it techically when the number transfers as the number can't be on 2 sim cards can it?

Yeah they made me transfer the number to the new SIM  great i will have to keep checking to see if a number is on it through that phone status/my tel number thing. hmm i hate orange right now :(

Thanks a lot for your help though.

Just phone them and double check what date they clocked to do the changeover - at least you have a warning when it will happen. Oh and don't lose the new sim. :D

Call customer service, you might get charged for that call if its pay and go - I am not sure what Orange do. 150 from mobile I think it is. Make it snappy.

    Hi Anon

My son just transferred to Orange PAYG and the PAC transfer took about 3 working days. You may receive a text message from Orange on your "new" SIM that will advise you when the transfer will take place. Pop it into your old phone and see if you get any messages.

    Good luck
