Inserting an image help please

On another forum I cannot insert an image in a msg, I click the image symbol and this appears on the msg [img][/img], I have the photo on the desktop, how do I put the photo in the msg.
Probably a very simple answer, so can someone help please.

If you right-click on the picture, press CTRL and C to copy, or choose COPY from the menu, then paste in the message by pressing CTRL and V.

You need to upload the image to a hosting site.

I tried this unsuccessfully but after following the next two posts I have done it. Wish I had asked weeks ago.
