MS'ing appears as ALOT of hard work, effort and time for a small return. Am i right in thinking people do it because they enjoy it and are grateful for making a few quid?

I think that's true of the majority of people. I don't earn much from it, less than most people on here I think, but I enjoy it for the free items/meals etc and the extra pennies it gives me. It would be a lot of hard work to earn a large income from it!

i have been doing around 30 a month and am signed up to about 10 companies (all from the first post). i am also prepared to travel and generally do local jobs at lunch or after work and then go to nearby towns at weekends. timewise it does vary for jobs as i did a phone shop which paid well but took more than an hour to do the bloody report  and then buger jobs don't pay much but are very quick and simple.

i would advise signing up to a few companies and doing a variety of jobs as you will get a feel for which companies and jobs you like. its not a quick and easy way to make money as you certainly have to work for it! the jobs themselves are usually simple enoiugh, its the reports that take forever!

I would be interesting in doing something like MS if i could earn £30+ per job that required about 2-3 hours of my time.

But i don't think this is the case at all. I don't think I can make a decent chunk of money from MS which is what I am trying to achieve because that is what can make a material difference to my lifestyle.

I want to work hard, put alot of effort and time into something but I wanted to be rewarded big i.e. I want to do something where I am focusing on a "big picture" rather then putting in alot of time and effort for a small return.

    Does that seem reasonable?

seems reasonable but MS very unlikely to offer that. I have only had that amount once and that was because i had to open a bank account and be credit checked.

In that case I suggest you find a new job that pays £200 per week on top of your current salary ;)

There's no such thing as a free lunch unfortunately ... well there is in MS, but you know what I mean.
  • Funny that, me too :D. What a coincidence huh.

Now that I think about it people all stressed out with their xmas shopping isn't my idea of a good few hours, and town was packed. But hey-ho just think of the cash.

I didn't get loads of jobs either, just 1 chicken and 1 pizza competitior (which i'm looking forward to. Yummy!)

Me too! 1 chicken and 1 competitor. The dates were annoying as the majority of jobs needed to be done whilst I'm away.
  • Anybody having trouble with Retail Eyes web!!!!!?

I've been told working longer hours or doing a second job is a poor mans game. How many people do you know that have become seriously wealthy from doing that?

I think it is a case of finding a method where I can get my money to work more smart for me or how I can make more money from having a few good ideas rather then spending more time and effort for little reward.

This is much easier said then done ofcourse.

Although I am considering laying off Olly and Danyl from the X Factor. Just don't think they will win, Over 25s have only won once in the first ever X Factor. It is mainly the 16-24 age group that wins so most likely to be Stacey or Joe.

This seems like easy money with not much effort.

Does anyone have any idea what else i can do to make about £200 a week on top of a salary apart from MS ?
Bar work, shelf stacking in supermarkets, Bettaware catalogue, pizza delivery etc etc

It is a lot of hard work but it is worth it if, after visiting a shop/bank/restaurant etc where the service was terrible, you return at a later date and see improvements due to YOUR comments. I think to say we are "grateful for a few quid" is a very patronising thing to say as we all work darn hard for our money.

I agree. Meals out are definitely a bonus.

St00zer,you seem to think MS-ing is a quick way of earning a lot of money. You will see very few jobs that pay the sort of fee you are looking for and definitely won't see any while you are still inexperienced.

Read the first few posts on this thread. Sign up to a few companies. Have a look at the sort of jobs on offer. GapBuster and Retail Eyes are good companies to start with. Do a few jobs, see if you like it. See if you can fit it in around your full time job. But don't expect to make £200 a week. You won't.

  • That's minimum 20 "high paying" jobs. Others like phone shops pay less so you're looking at more. I don't work apart from MS-ing, and working 5 days a week at it the most I've ever made in one month is £693. That's being out for 4-5 hours during the day and then another couple of hours writing up reports in the evenings. Remember, its not so much doing the jobs that takes the time it#s doing the reports.

If you're looking to make £800 a month on top of a full time job then I don't think MS-ing is the way to do it.

I agree with TractorGirl. The reports take up the majority of my time. I don't mind the driving around to different shops or doing the assignments but I find the reports take up a lot of time.
I work full time and I have never made £200 a week by mystery shopping.
