if you're looking to make £800 a month on top of a full time job then i don't think ms-ing is the way to do it.

On RE it generally takes at least overnight to get a few jobs on, but they don't tend to upload over the weekend mostly on evenings Mon-Thurs.

In terms of making £200 a week on top of a full time job, I think you would struggle! Most jobs have some kind of outlay i.e you have to buy a product or food and that is sometimes considered part of the reward so you may only get £5 or so for a job. Considering the tax entitlement I think you'd need around 20-30 jobs a week to make £200, obviously with more experience you'll start to get some better paid jobs and pick and choose more but from experience it isn't really possible to make that kind of money on top of a full time job.

Generally on top of my full time job I'm happy if I make £200 a month of proper money (excluding the bonuses of food or drinks or products that I need to buy).

i agree, i do mine on top of a full time job but i do have the odd day off a month if there are lots of jobs on a particular day (luckily i work flex :D)
i made about £200 in sept, £300 in oct and £350 this month. even if i was offered more jobs tbh i don't think i could take them as it exhausts me doing that many!

Interesting. How many jobs did you do to achieve these figures ? What type of jobs were they and how much time did you dedicate to it ? Which company did you use to do this many jobs ?

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Does anyone know how long it would take or how many assignments it will require to make about £200 a week from MS ? Would this be an achievable target on top of having a normal job ?

I'd say it depends on the hours of your full-time job, if it is a 9-5 job then no simply because the jobs that you can get to in your lunch break and do of a evening/weekend aren't going to be that many. If on the other hand you are on compressed hours night shift you might have a chance. I'm doing this full-time and whilst I am making £200+ in fees of a week it does involve a fair bit of travelling about to get to the good fee jobs.

I would imagine this would be difficult to specify. The amount you earn per assignment varies so much, even within the same MS company. It depends on the type of assignment/work involved etc.
I would say you have to sign up to a good few companies as even in those with more regular work you are up against a lot of people to get the work - can be fastest finger first/ right place, right time. Some companies are more sporradic with work and so it's difficult to predict an income. You just have to take it as it comes.
How much spare time do you have? Are you looking at just evenings/weekends or do you have daytime hours free too? This can make a big impact on potential income as well.
Do you have any skills/trade that you can focus on to up your income (ignoring the MSing for now?) That might help people to offer more suggestions on ways to up your income.
Hope you find something that woeks for you

Looks like I missed some good jobs on RE this afternoon while I was stood outside a fat head shop for 3 hours freezing to death and having people being rude to me . Never mind though, I met a very nice fellow MS'er while I was there , so not all bad :D.

Funny that, me too :D. What a coincidence huh.

Now that I think about it people all stressed out with their xmas shopping isn't my idea of a good few hours, and town was packed. But hey-ho just think of the cash.

I didn't get loads of jobs either, just 1 chicken and 1 pizza competitior (which i'm looking forward to. Yummy!)

MS'ing appears as ALOT of hard work, effort and time for a small return. Am i right in thinking people do it because they enjoy it and are grateful for making a few quid?
  • I would suggest you read the info on the majority of MS companies sign up pages.

Without exception, they all advise you will not earn a fortune. If you are looking for quick, easy money, then I would say you should think of something else.

With regards to being 'grateful' to earn a few extra quid, I think that is a wrong choice of words, personally I work as hard as I have in any other job that I have done, so grateful? No, I have earned it.
