@Teabythesea and @spikeg33 - please remove client name from your posts.

@Kessik - whilst you don't need to be anywhere near an expert, it helps if you know what the jargon means - bhp, tdi, cab, hatchback, etc etc. Also, yes, do take notes, I just scribble down the prices that I'm offered during the convo. I've only ever called ahead to the garage once, but, if these are your first ones, I'd consider calling ahead, just to speed things up a bit, maybe call them as you're setting off from one to the next. Don't let them p**s you around, take charge and don't let the salesman lead the conversation, take charge from the outset.

Of course. I do almost all of my mystery shopping without a car. Bear in mind that you'll be somewhat limited on what you can accept though. I remember back in the days of TNS area managers, that my manager was so desperate that I complete a remote visit asap she offered to lend me her car to do it! (Sadly of no use because I don't have a license).
  • Thanks. I think I'll give it a go then.

Apart from this thread is there any on how to start out mystery shopping?

The first couple of posts on this thread are pretty comprehensive, and give just as much information as I've seen on any other mystery shopping sites. I assume you will be starting out doing "written" visits - I do mainly video mystery shops and so can't really add much more info than is already in those first few posts. Good luck.

P.S. Don't get suckered in to buying a mystery shopping guide from the internet - the information here is much better (I know, because I fell for their sales pitch a while ago when I was considering doing written visits and wanted some info!)
If it weren't for mystery shopping I would never have discovered the joy of launch control.

Have a read of the first few posts on this thread. Then read them again, then if you've got any questyions, feel free to ask, we're generally a friendly bunch, but please please read the first page (at least!) first.

Well done - lots of people on here have had to wait days to be approved. Mine was passed in less than 10 minutes!

I'm doing a job for them tomorrow and will have to order a glass of wine.....with my cooked breakfast! And they say you have to be inconspicuous

Good luck with your first job, remember to record what shop/buiilding is to the left and right of McD, time your visit and get a receipt. Enjoy your breakfast/lunch!!;) You were still awake at 10 to 3 in the morning??????????

    Students never sleep :)!

Something a bit dodgy going on with gyp at the moment! Just picked up a pizza comps job and noticed that in my "my assignments" section I've got a burger job that's been rejected/cancelled that I didn't apply for! Says I requested it yesterday, but I was out for most of yesterday. Also the one I've just picked up has tomorrows date as the date requested!

All rather confusing. Anyone else got any random jobs in their assignments?
