Orange: Oversea Data usage?
Hi, I'm trying to work through my mums Orange bill as she's been charged a hefty amount recently which seems to be for overseas data usage while she was in Turkey.
She's on the Dolphin 35 contract
While she was in Turkey her recent bill has incurred the following charges.
Call Charges (non-VAT applicable) £10.10
Data Charges £45.14
According to the itemized bill the data charges are
Orange / Orange Internet / Data / 8.9147mb / £3.924
Turkey Turkcell / #Orange Internet / Data / 5.5994mb / £44.795
VODAFONE TR Turkey / #Orange Internet / Data / 0.0435mb / £0.348
Calls and Text charges for overseas are
Text message / TCELL Turkey / £0.4 (there are x9 of these) (£3.60)
Call / TCELL Tirkey / roam / £5.2 (3m27s call)
Call / TCELL Turkey / roam £1.3 (0m42s call)
Now I'm not all familiar with her contract or Orange and I know she should realyl call Orange but she's passed this onto me to check first. I was pretty much going to tell her straight she's simply been abit ignorant and not paid attention to what she was using, where she was using it and therefore the costs she's incur but I thoguht I'd run it by here first to to double check it all adds up correctly.
As ar as I can see she has unlimited internet on her contract, so why would this be on here to start with
Orange / Orange Internet / Data / 8.9147mb / £3.924
I can't imagine 8.9mb is going over "unlimited" also as it's Orange network I can't imagine she's done this overseas as the following 2 data charges specifically state it's been done in Turkey whereas this one does not.
As for this charge
Turkey Turkcell / #Orange Internet / Data / 5.5994mb / £44.795
Why is it so much? I tried to find the charges incurred on over seas data usage and all I could find was a an article dating July this year stating orange charged £2.94 per mb when overseas. Which would make it ALOT less than £44.795. So is this right? and how so? I want to be able to tell her exactly why and how she's been charged this much.
The texts she made overseas all for £0.40p those are correct I assume? I mean the cost?
And what about roaming charges for phone calls, what exactly is Orange charging? would this make the phone call charges (roam) correct?
Any help with this greatly appreciated, I fear it's merely going to be a case of live and learn unfortunately. Unless anyone can pick up on anything that seems incorrect. Much appreciated.

I guess the question stil lremains about the Orange data charge of £3.924 and also, in future what could she do to keep these charges down, anything? Other than not using data abroad or switching sims to another network?0 -
Glad you found the details you wanted for roaming data.
As to the orange data, you will need to contact orange and check that the internet is on our contract. It is free bonus at the moment, but might not always have been, ring 150 from your mums phone and check.
If it is on, then you will have to ask orange why she was charged.
The limit is 500mb for orange.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Data bundles are only for use in this country. Once you go oversea's you get charged by the network over there by as much as £10 a meg. If you call Orange they'll tell you what the rate is for each country and if they round up to the next meg...0

I don't think i made that clear in my post, Jon is correct. Any internet packages are for the home country only. Use by masts in other countrys is roaming data and not included. It is possible from dover to pick up a french mast, and get charged alot.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
