Remember all that positivity and housework on the list yesterday, scrap that, it's on for today instead. Not because I have positivity you see, purely because I've procrastinated enough to mean I have no choice but do it today
Damn this self sabbotage :mad:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
I've still not done anything...
Methinks I should've been born into a family that have loads of money and can afford to get people to do everything for me?
Mind you, saying that, I have a neighbour that has 'apparently' a back problem which means she can't do anything for herself, council fitted grab bars all over the place, a walk in shower and provides her with a cleaner twice a week (the woman even scrubs the skirting boards every week .....is that normal....oh it is?) she's a discharged bankrupt who 2 months before she claimed (which she'd already planned to do), she fitted her house out with leather sofas and such like. She's now discharged and just had delivered a 42" flat screen TV which takes up half the lounge, and has had concrete slabs delivered from the local garden centre to patio her 50' square garden, where the money came from I don't know, plus a bit dubious about the back problem as I watched her laying the slabs in the garden herself last week
This makes me very angry
I'm now off to clean my own kitchen as I won't have time tomorrow as I'll be at work :rolleyes:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Jo, re.your neighbour, some people are just born scroungers who think the world owes them everything with a cherry on top! @ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Hi Jo
Unfortunatly people like your neighbour give us BR's a bad name. Knowlingly fitting her house out with leather sofas etc before going BR does bring the wrath of the masses on the genuine cases.
Take a picture of her laying the slabs. I would have no qualms about doing that as it is our taxes that she lives off.
Sorry a bit political for a Sunday but am older now so can claim to be a Grumpy old man
Hope you are well0 -

Not political at all YM, I do agree wholeheartedly. Problem is, the only photograph I could get of her in her garden would be from an angle that would give away completely who I am. And although it gets my goat and it's all wrong, if I was going to grass I'd have to do it anonomously (is that cowardly??).
It just grates on me that she moans about money, says she's only entitled to incapacity, but has a beautiful new garden, 42" tv, brand new memory foam bed and a shedload of new clothes to boot (which she can't wear cos she's housebound )

Yes Berocca, ah Berroca yes, must remember to start taking it again. Got 3 tube of the stuff on offer at Tesco a while back, all the flavours  then put it away and forgot about it......also forgot the milk thistle in the cupboard...oops.
Episode 2 of the neighbour with the 42" flat screen and nice garden....
I was off 'ill' yesterday (yes, yes I had planned it and no, no I haven't thrown a sickie for years) and then woke up today and am ill  it's like god is watching and punishing me!!
Anyway, back to the neighbour...here I am sat watching Jeremy Kyle and reading the boards (multi-tasking ) when I heard a van pull up. Looked out (cos I'm nosy) and a bloke jumped out the van and took out a massive box and half a dozen packages, very big ones, probably about 3ft square. As he got closer to the house I noticed the packages all had Next Directory on them, he took them to her house!!!!! She's housebound  what the h£ll does she want with a wardrobe full of top notch overpriced gear??

Hi jo
While I'm not politically to the right, behaviour like your neighbour's infuriates me. The welfare system has been set up to support people in need. It's not an entitlement. Your neighbour's spending may be because she's been very frugal with her disability benefit (maybe she doesn't drink) or maybe she has generous family but to be 'disabled' and strong enough to lay a patio is really extracting the proverbial. I understand your wish to be anonymous but isn't there some sort of 'helpline' you can call. Maybe it's possible just to give verbal details of what you've seen and leave them to investigate. Probably they'll be too short-staffed to look into it but a least you've done something.
Have a good day, hope you feel better soon.0
