i posted this elsewhere and was advised to post it here.

i have searched this forum for info on whether the nokia 6111 can be unlocked from 02 or not but it seems there is conflicting info and also the posts are not really up to date so thought i would ask the question and see what the current info is.

i havnt bought the phone yet and i dont want to buy it if im not going to be able to use it. i would be buying it through my job therefore getting commission so advice to buy from the network i want isnt going to work on this occassion. hope someone can help.

If you're looking for a phone you can unlock then it might interest you to know that my Nokia 1110 on Virgin which arrived on Monday (£24.99 from Amazon with £10 call credit), appeared to be unlocked on arrival as it worked with an Orange SIM without have to do anything.

the options are

samsung e900 -o2
samsung d600 - vodafone
sony ericsson w810i - vodafone
sony ericsson k510i - vodafone
sony ericsson k750i - vodafone
motorola v3i - t mobile
motorola l6 slvr - vodafone
nokia 6111 - o2

i would need to be able to unlock the phone to use a virgin sim as i recently took their offer of sim only for 15 p/m and free broadband keeping my number.

im open to any phone it was just my husband that suggested the nokia.

any advice greatfully accepted.

6111 can usually be unlocked but for some reason the unlock settings work on some and not others - dont know why?
if you get it on o2 contract or from carfonewarehouse it will be unlocked anyway

out of these i would go for the e900 or w810i
no free codes but both can be unlocked for about £10 and are better phones than 6111 which is a bit plasticy imho

thank you very much. it will be on an o2 contract so looks like im going to be safe to go ahead and buy it

will do that tomorrow as its too late now. another new phone to learn all the new buttons still dont know what half of them to on my old phone

wife has pink 6111 and likes it but im not to keen
also e900 is worth more if you want to sell

i wont want to sell it. had the phone ive got now for years but fancy one with a camera now. dont need an all singing all dancing thing cos i wont use it anyway. just want to make/receive calls and texts and take pics.
