Dilemma choosing unlimited broadband

Okay, I've been searching for 'unlimited' broadband for my new home, and am only limited to a few ISPs that I know of. I am unable to get a contract with O2 Home Broadband, BE and Virgin Media (Fibre Optics) as they are not available in the area (Samknows says otherwise though =(). So now, I am thinking of going with either O2 Home Access or Virgin Media (the other package). Does anyone have any opinions on these two providers? I am told by BT that I am only able to get around up to 5Mbit connection, will I also be limited to that by the other ISPs?
I have also thought about mobile broadband, but I think that will be much more expensive than home broadband, and it might also not be as reliable as home broadband? Am I correct?
Are there any other reputable options that I can go with (that does not have a reputation of throttling speed either) ? Any help will be appreciated.

I have been with O2 home access for over 12 months now, and i can say that at times the service is v. poor.
You should also note that they have recently introduced traffic management, I would recommend you visit the O2 broadband forums and have a look at what is being posted0 -
hear it from the horse's mouth

all the information on O2's traffic management policy0 -
Seeing that O2 is out if the question, does anyone know how Virgin performs? Or is there another ISP that anyone can recommend?Eleventh Heaven #23101 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 110

reading the O2 traffic management info...looks to only be 3 hours (8pm-11pm) so not the end of the world.
Got to say, I'm also on access..it has its ups and downs but it's usually ok, and the TM should improve the surfing experience for everyone, while restriction those of us who use P2P..though I haven't noticed the restriction...Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
We used a mobile dongle for internet use while we were waiting for the broadband to be moved to our new address. It was SO SLOW after normal broadband so I would only advise it if you have the patience of a saint!0
