Next Catalogue

Next have been carrying out this poor practice for years. I remember when they ran a competition a couple of years ago to win a Vauxhall Astra. Everyone who entered it had a Next account opened on their behalf and were charged for the catalogue. As a word of warning the Next T&C for their accounts do state:you will be charged £3.75 for your first and each subsequent Next Directory.
The Next Directory will be sent to you twice a season while you remain an active customer
It would appear that the website advertising the competition gets referral fees when you enter Next competitions.0 -
I am absolutely livid with Next! I went on tonight to order a rug for my daughter, as they never have what you want in stock in the shop, plus it is quite large to hump along the high street to a car, which wouldn't be long enough to accomodate anyway, so I thought I would order online and get home delivery............
Suddenly I have an account where I didn't pay for the darn thing as assumed when clicking on, plus extra credit to spend I didn't ask for!
I didn't click on the option to open an account plus free catalogue. I was never given any indication at any stage that this is what was going to happen, and was ready to pay for the rug in full. Had my debit card at the ready.
Is this really legal......to give credit out so easily, and not allow the option of a customer to pay in full at point of sale? Plus is there anything I have to be aware of when it comes to paying for this item, and the credit I now have?
This is back door tactics of the worse kind and I will never shop in the darn place again. OK, I might be getting free credit for a month, but it was never made clear, and it strikes me as a trap to spend.
Please move if in the wrong place, but I couldn't see where to post!

I didn't get round to ringing them until today. I was transferred through to another dpt, once there I explained everything, he was very nice the Advisor and said he would close the account and take the charges off.
Geenie, I see what you mean regarding where to post. This is why I questioned mine.
But what a crafty thing for Next to do hey? All that does is get peoples backs up, when you are not informed what is happening.0
