Why don't you go to Asda and let the rest of us decide what we want to do, im happy with Tesco and will happily carry on shopping, to be honest Tesco will probably be happy to lose the couponers who pay about £5 for £50 worth of shopping, it was a scam and was good while it lasted, but people abused it and now its gone.0 -
done - consider me in0

So you are saying you should boycott Tesco to 'punish' them for only allowing you to use money off coupons in the way in which they were intended to be used. Im sure Tesco are quaking in their corporate boots at the thought of a few coupon fanatics boycotting them.0

Tbh people should try and use as many non supermarket shops as possible . As from what i have seen of the coupons they tended to only be highly processed and over priced rubbish in the first place .Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

more of a rant really!!! Didn't want to be left out of the general ranting going on. lol Puts tongue back into cheek.
I'm more of a waitrose person anyway!0 -
I know what it's like to live on a reduced income, first I lost my job as leader of the opposition and now these pesky journalists have forced us to cut back on expense claims.
My best advice to you would be to weigh up the cost of shopping at different retailers including tesco. If you find in the "post coupon era" that it is cheaper to shop at your local market (taking into account petrol costs), or that Morrisons Aldi, Lidl etc offer a better deal then it doesn't make sense to stick with tesco, but if shopping at tesco is the cheapest option then don't cut off your nose to spite your face. I have a feeling that sales at tesco will drop anyway, because the reason it worked out cheaper for me to shop there was the coupon policy.
By the way I've (my family) been using coupons since the early 1980's with little or no problem. The last time my local tesco stopped coupons they missed out on over £200 of shopping a week from my household alone, even if there were only 10 coupon using families in the area, thats close to £1000 a week in lost revenue. But then add into that casual users, who would then maybe drop their shop by a few pence or a pound a day, there will be thousands of those per store. When it starts to hit the bottom line Tesco will quietly reintroduce the policy, so long as it isn't announced over the airwaves as a consumer victory by you know who!0 -
Would love to tell tesco where to go. Their pricing policy to make 'special offers' look like a bargain is condescending to the average shopper who knows quite well that the particular item was 35% cheaper last week. Huge increases from week to week mean they are not the cheapest supermarket.
However... for those of us who live in a 'Tesco town', their grip on land means that it is not economically viable to shop elsewhere from day to day. So I will continue to do my big shop at other stores but am unable to avoid them for top ups.
And I don't use coupons really! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Agreed, I am boycotting Tesco for the month of October.
There has been talk that their change of coupon policy is a 4 week trial so every little helps in being conspicuous by our absence (e.g. my local store will notice the absence of couponers I am sure, as some of us are well known and were there every day).
Posts about it here on the printable coupons sticky:

I will use Waitrose and will check out the prices in Lidl, Aldi, Asda and Sainsburys, all of which are local to me. I only went out of my way to shop at Tesco because of coupons, as did many, if they don't change the policy back then sobeit, we will find other places to shop now.
I must say I am gutted. Like many poeple, we don't have much money and I honestly don't know how we will afford our groceries now. We have 4 children and we both work - but we have a mortgage and lowish salaries...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
