    Good moaning

Not posted here in ages, so thought I'd say

    Hi

Just about to do a load of washing, I wish I could find a way to not get those white marks in my washing darks and coloureds (I feel so racist talking about washing):o Tried using less powder or liquid but they still appear:(

Not been feeling like doing much, got this half cold making me feel tired, so saved money by staying in and buying only what we need.

Will have something with cheese, our son is coming round for a BBQ tomorrow, so having a pig out then.:)

Also, it has been six weeks since we have had contact with my mother, as she 'turned' on us, accusing us of all sorts. Our son rang us feeling upset and she has 'turned' on him. I know she was bereaved 3 months ago but she likes to be in control and if any of us have a life of our own, she 'turns' on us. She has been like this for many years, so can't attribute it all to the bereavement.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

    Morning all:wave:

OH has taken the kids on their sailing course for the morning. He's buying them lunch at the club so a bit of time off for me.

Breakfast was toast and jam/marmalade. The kids seem to like the sour dough despite its distinctive tangy taste. I need to make some more tomorrow.

Lunch -kids and OH will be having chips and other poor quality junky food at the sailing club:rolleyes: I'm not sure what I will have, hopefully there is a bit of sour dough left for me to toast with some goat's cheese.

Supper is roast chicken etc. I'm roasting two chickens and will use the rest of the meat in various dishes over the next week. I will freeze some too and of course make stock with the carcases.
Pudding will be baked quinces- The kids probably won't eat these, but that's their loss.

Last night we had a delicious piece of cod which I roasted with roast potatoes. Another idea from River Cottage Everyday- roast the spuds first, then clear a space in the tin for the fish and pop that in for about 15 mins. I served it with a puree of peas and a crisp bacon rasher each, plus ketchup:) It was fab.

    Pea puree (posh mushy peas)

Cook peas with a clove of garlic. Blend with a knob of butter some mint if you can find enough in your garden (I barely could), add a slug of cream. Delicious but use more peas than you would if serving them straight.

    Morning Everyone.
Am late on here this morning as my parents have the kids! Me & H went out for a bite to eat and the cinema (totally not OS or MSE but I soooooo needed it!) and they had the kids overnight for us. We had a lie in until 7.30am which felt lovely although I had cramp in my calf during the night which was agony :(
DS gave my parents a rough night though. He's really clingy at the mo, very insecure although he's happy about going to nursery. So I guess no more stopping at granny's until he's a bit more settled.
Got a couple of friends coming over with their kids this afternoon so need to get some baking done. I didn't have a birthday party for DS but felt guilty so invited some friends round for a birthday tea. Going to cook some biscuits and some cakes......there are only potentially 4 other kids coming so not sure whether to do some cheese sandwiches or something......anyway off to have a think.

Still no rain here. Been about 3 weeks now and I could really do with some. My water butt is empty and I have to keep using our metered water on the veggie patch eek! Really windy and chilly, had to put the heating on here for an hour yesterday as it went really cool and me and mindee were freezing! Oh and Ofsted didn't come so I guess it looks like next week is the week!

Curly - I am so sorry to hear about your friends little boy. My son is 4 and I think my world would have ended if he was taken from me :(

Anyway better scoot. Have a good day OS or not.

  • Morning Guys!

Slept better last night. Thanks for all the lovely messages yesterday and PM's. You're all very sweet.

WM is on and DW has been on and emptied by DD. Its very blowy out today, so hoping it will stay dry for the washing to go out. Still lots of ironing to do:rolleyes:

Have a friend coming over for coffee this morning about 11, so will be nice to catch up with her. She recently left her top job in the city to concentrate on her properties plus a family member has cancer and she is caring for them.

Got steak out for dinner. Waitrose do their sirloin steaks in seperate portions vacum packed for the freezer, so are easy to get out and cook etc. DD & OH like them medium rare, where as I like them medium. Thinking of doing cheesy mash and some veg with it:confused:...like they do at TGI's:D but it probably wont taste anything like it:o...might do some onion rings too.

DD out with friends this afternoon. She has an English paper to do today and she finished her Math, Geography and Science last night so she could have some fun over the weekend.

Last night we watched Road to Peridition (sp) with Tom Hanks and was very good. Its an older film but thought it was well structured and interesting.

I must spend some time on my end of course assessment which is due in on the 9th October at noon:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anyway, I am rambling as usual.

    Hugs to all.

Tired mum I'm so sorry this has happened but he is where he needs to be and will get the help he needs. I used to work with young adults with mental health problems and he will get lots of support.
Take it easy and never mind about osiness for a few days. :kisses3:

It's a whirlwind of gale force winds, rain, grumpy husbands, excited 8 year old getting ready for a party, a chicken phobic dog and chickens here. Will post later when I have time to bless myself.;):D

    Morning all!

I had a lie-in this morning (well a lie-in for me anyways) and woke up at 9.15 :) it was well needed.

The weather here is horrible this morning :( it's windy and wet! My flat overlooks a disused dock and the wind it swirling all the water and it looks very pretty. It's been ages though since we've had any rain so shouldn't complain, just hopes it stops by tonight.

MSD - I bought loads of little bits in Ikea yesterday including a loaf tin, spice jars, scented candles and tealights, washing up brushes, oven gloves and spaghetti jar. Total was £14.60, I had donated 5 books so had £5 off voucher, so grand total of £9.60 :) very pleased.

My friend and me then hit Cardiff for some retail therapy. Intending on visiting the new John Lewis store. We did have a nose round in there but we both only ended up buying stuff from Primark! It's a big Primark store, and it had loads of reduced toilettries for 50p so pick up some fruity body butters/shower gels/scrubs etc. Plus got some lovely chunky cardigans which were just £7 each!

I've not got much planned for the day today. I was going to put WM on, but will leave it til tomorrow as it's not meant to rain tomorrow. I have a big bag of carrots to use up so want to make carrot cake and muffins so need to do a search to find a recipe. And may need to pop to shops to get some bits.

Tonight I'm meeting up with ex-colleagues for food and a natter. I'm taking the car so it shouldn't be too expensive as there will be no wine or taxi costs!

    Have a good day all

Morning chums ,well its not all that bright at the moment here and by the creakiness of my joints I think we may be getting some rain.
MSD tell your friend that chemo is not as bad as you think. Some of the side effects can be a bit alarming but the end result is well worth it.I had mine at Maidstone hospital and the treatment was really good and the aftercare was wonderful. I always took a bottle of Lucozade with me as for about half an hour I had a funny taste in my mouth and my Dd would also get some chocolate for me .As long as I didn't eat anything at all spicy I was o.k. but I found out the hard way that curries and chillies are off the menu. They also give you an anti sickness pill to take and usually give you some to take home .Belive me they work very quickly .Maidstone also had a 24 hour manned hotline to phone if you had any problems at all and they were fantasic one morning at 3.00.a.m. when I was feeling really crook. Good luck to your friend I hope all goes well with her.
essexgirl I lived on Mersea Island for a couple of years and in Colchester and there are parts of Essex that are so beautiful that many folk don't believe you. Mersea was gorgous and when we left to come back to London in 1967 I was really sad to go,(didn't miss the spiders though) we lived right on the edge vitually of the sea and marshes and had HUGE ones and not just in the autumn!!
Well last night I went with some friends to the local amdram production at the Medway Little Theatre and it was great .One of our friends was in the production and she was really good.A great evening was had by all for around £6.50 a ticket excellent value for live theatre.
Today i'm not going to venture very far I think as the weather is looking a bit doubtful and I want to read up on next mondays lesson at Uni.We are doing the Peterloo Massacre so it should be quite interesting .Lunch will be the remains ofn yesterdays tuna & sweetcorn salad and Probably some lamb chops from the freezer for dinner tonight with some mash and green beans.I will also have a little bit of ironing do catch up on but I can find some thing on t.v. to watch whilst i'm doing that
have a great weekend everyone and <<hugs >> to those who are feeling low and down
    Cheers JackieO xx

    (((tired mum)))

I hope your son gets the help he needs and things improve for you all.

What is more old style than looking after your family? Everything else will just shuffle into place so don't feel bad.

DD (15) has gone into York with a schoolfriend DH and DD (23) are just setting off to sort out relative's bungalow after her death. DD(23) is back in Oxford and DD (20) is back at uni.

Staying home to make spicy chicken for tea and maybe roast potatoes, veg and home made lentil soup if I can tear myself away from here.

DDs new bed arrives on Wenesday so need to look for a good deal on winter double duvet for it and maybe new pillows as well.

Hugs to MSD, Penny pincher and anyone else who could do with one.
