Is this not spam? Where's the money saving aspect?
If you know the true cost of a journey then you are less likely to get ripped off by an unscrupulous taxi driver. They do exist...

Tried it but the suggested price for a journey a member of my family makes regularly was under quoted. They said £9 and the usual cost is between £12-£16.

    Hi,

    It's trev from taxiroute.

When you used the calculator did the mapping software choose a suitable route? The route your family members use?

Would you be willing to tell me the route? I can show the manual calculations and see what it really should be?

I think there's something odd about how it's calculating the fares - I've just tried it with a taxi journey I do most days and it tells me it should cost £7.53. But the local council charging structure means that a fare will always be rounded to the nearest 20p - so you could never get charged the quoted fare in real life ....

Could I ask what you normally pay please? And even better the route if possible?

  • I am an owner of a taxi firm in North Wales and we have been well impressed with the site so far and use it every day to calculate quotes etc for local authority journeys as well as enquiries through our website.

Yes the routes are sometimes a bit weird because of going the shortest route but in general the fares are very accurate.
    Well done

The true cost of a trip is not what this web site says, it’s what the taxi meter says if it’s a regulated Hackney Carriage or what you agree with the firm if it’s an un-regulated Private Hire.

Taxiroute is a commercial website designed to make a profit for its owner by charging taxi firms for advertising space, nothing wrong with this in the real world but I struggle to see how it doesn’t fall foul of the MSE site rules regarding advertising……

  • I work in a Taxi office just put in the route from my house to our office and it came up 36p short compared to our computers estimate which is bang on unless we get stuck at every set of traffic lights on the way.
