Hidden mobile phone charge!!

Advice needed please!! After having switched from Orange to another provider, I was surprised to see over a month after receiving my final final bill from Orange to get another large direct debit from them. On calling, I was told that the extra amount was a call charge after having ported my pac code across providers because I "ported across too early". Apparently, although the code expires after 28 days, I was told that if you port across much earlier than this, then you are still liable for some charges due to early porting. Ive never ever heard of this before and have a good idea where I think they are talking out of, but if anyone can confirm this practice or can confirm my suspicions, would be much appreciated!! My letter to customer services is ready to be penned!! Thanks again :money:

Sounds like early termination charge which is normal if you are ending a contract - your first provider (Orange) will charge to end of contract as a minimum (30 days notice).

If you port out before the end of your contract the network will charge you to the end date on the last invoice.
  • This was not before the end of my fixed contract. That had passed and I was just on a month rolling contract pending upgrade or cancellation, the latter of which I went for.

OK, you need to give 28 days notice as well. So if you got your pac on the 1st (say) and ported out on the 10th the network would still change you to the 28th due to the notice period.
Not a 'hidden change' its in the T&C's...

They basically charge for a full 12/18 or 24 months. Simple.

I requested my PAC code last week after a fruitless tries to at least keep my monthly cost at last years level. Orange weren't interested despite my being out of contract by 2 weeks. The letter with my code did mention that you would be charged for the 30 say notice period after requesting the PAC. I also rang to check and give them 1 last try to keep my custom but no:mad:
