  • hi all

apologies for usual random absence... all been a bit manic here between work, uni and renovations (glad landlord decided to do it, but timing not great). Annoying flatmate now gone and house nearly decluttered so will have ready for FlyLady routines when back to uni in Oct. Oh and got travel bursary which will save me £100/month, v happy with that :D oh and also have new veg patch, that's been keeping me busy as have been digging and sorting over the summer!

DFW not going all that well partly thanks to family wedding abroad, also need to replace DVD player now flatmate gone but think have found v good half price deal for home cinema system so will be ringing up to reserve and collect tomorrow. Love life also still pretty much flatlined but am STILL debating what to do about guy I like at work... by now everyone is bored of hearing it and keeps telling me to just ask him out... and as I'm constitutionally incapable of doing that in person, will be joining same dating website shortly to see if I can manage it online.

MissLauren sorry to hear about scumbag... grrr. Don't let him put you off, that would be a waste of your fabulousness.

    Congrats TDQO

    Hope everyone else doing well.

Unlikely I'd make a meet between work, uni and needing to take up some kind of sport to combat the approaching muffin top... but all depends when and where so will join if I can.

Hmmm well sod it, time for a proper update for you lot!

Basically since Graduation I've been busy with a few things. One is the brewery... a brand spanking new one is being built on my old campus and I'm now the head brewer and manager. This has meant lots of meetings and trips to wales to learn how to brew as well as visits to other breweries. Unfortunately I'm not getting paid until a large private investement arrives which sucks. Should be a pretty decent wage once it does though.

Another is family events, had a huge 3 day party for my Dad's 60th and then my cousins' wedding in August so that was expensive!

I've also been on holiday to the Isles of Scilly with my lovely gf, white sand, clear water, loads of wildlife, amazing! I did blow about £1000 on it for the both of us but sod it, you only live once!

I've paid off pretty much every single debt I've accrued over the last 5yrs, including £2000 to my Dad! Now I've only got £2000 or so of my Australian payout left but I have no debt either so that can be spent without too much guilt.

I've moved from my horrible smelly temp accomodation into a rather nice waterside flat in a gated community by a marina. This wasn't entirely out of choice, there is next-to-no accomodation available in Fal at the moment and I had to take what I could, when I could, regardless of price! This means I now have to buy a bed, sofa, etc etc but I'm scanning the free-ads and will be doing it on the cheap.

Apart from all that I still have a horrible amount of things to do, I need to pass my driving test ASAP which could cost me about £1000 for an intensive course. I also haven't updated my wardrobe yet and don't even own a suit at the moment! That could absorb another £500-600 easily. Not to mention joining a gym, getting my bicycle fixed and getting fit. I'm back up to 19stone!!!

So yar... will be trying to post on here when I can but I've been going up to a week without even checking facebook haha.

  • Im giving up on dating now, my dad is in christies with cancer, and as my mum never has been close to me or given me a hug, I went with my aunty pat yesterday to see him (she is his sister) and she treated me to a new necklace, coffee and lots of hugs and chat about my mum and dad and that my mum never wanted to get married to my dad, lots of history about the past. I enjoyed seeing her and my dad. His cancer has spread to the spine now and he is only 73 but looking older. He cant eat and just drinks milkshakes and we went and got him a shandy too as he fancied a pint. he said nurses are brill and one called andy gave him a proper bath too. My aunty does not think he will come out. My mum is pushing everyone away and I really have no time for her anymore.

Im not unhappy in the least, but it would be nice for a fella to treat me and give me lots of sexy cuddles.

My mate david always available for cuddle but that different. lol:rotfl:

    Keeping cheery.:)

Butterflies, that's sad about your dad, having been there with my mum I know what it's like, and every nurse my mum had was brilliant it's not a job I could do. These days I try to keep away from negative people they aren't worth the time or effort, and really I think there only interested in themselves anyway.

TDQ we have a micro brewery round here think it's based in Ossett, they seem to be doing quite well, we have quite a few real ale pubs in Dewsbury and the surrounding area, 1 is the West Riding which James May visited the other year.

I have a week off work and intend to go walking starting tomorrow going to Bleaklow in the Peak District, never walked near there and I'm sure I should see some plane wreckage from the war, got other stuff to do like putting a blind up in the kitchen. My sis say's she'll help me declutter the house ready for my boat move, she also wants to buy half share in my house so we can rent it out, and I was talking to a guy in the pub about it, he used to live on a barge and he say's he'll help me he also said I'd be nuts to buy a finished boat and to look at buying a shell, he knows a joiner who'll fit it out and all in all should cost £20,000 less, and if I look after it should last for 50 years, if it hadn't been for the hangover this morning would be quite chuffed but feel really tired.

    Hello Everyone!

TDQO - that sounds interesting?! Glad to hear you've found a job. Are you thinking of going into mining later on or have you decided it wasn't for you? Glad to hear things are going well on the girlfriend front as well!! :j

MissLauren - so sorry to hear about your ex  how awful and horrible for you  I hope your other endeavours (fashion designing etc) are going well and you can focus on them for a while instead of bothering with no good idiots who can't see when they have a good thing that they don't deserve!

eco - hope the walking is going well, sounds idyllic. I'd definitely be up for a SAID meet. Birmingham is fab for me but happy to travel anywhere with a train station!!

    My update:

Just returned from hols with my parents which was good but expensive.

However money wise things aren't too bad. I owe my folks some cash after getting my flat but my Grandma's estate has now passed probate and as a result my parents have knocked £2k off what i owe them so I now owe £2k.

I've also got a lodger moving in on Sunday. It all happened unexpectedly. A few weeks ago I got an email from an old friend with whom I wasn't really in contact with but she emailed everyone as she was looking for a room to live in while she does her PGCE at a Uni down the road from me. It seemed like Providence so we discussed it and I think it is going to work out well. It will force me to sort out my junk in my spare bedroom and also give me a chance to get some money together to pay for all the stuff I want to get / do in my flat. She will only be here til June next year so is a fixed term which is fab.

She is very lovely and I think this will work out well.

I've also got a job working for the electoral services chasing up people who haven't returned their electoral roll form. This is a part time thing which I will do after work and at weekends and will run through October. I should hopefully get £600+ for doing this.

I've got a big holiday at the end of October and I've some savings for that but this money will help with that and also with Christmsa which I'm hosting at mine :j:beer:

And finally I've just signed up for Taste Radar who apparently refund whatever you spend on Fruit and Veg in return for evaluating it!!! Lets see how that works out!!

Hugs for everyone who is feeling down or struggling right now.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
