Water consumption for 2 adults...

in Water bills
... I know google should be my friend - but the results its giving me are very hit and miss!
Tried the same here - but also so many results and none seem to answer my question but maybe someone has already posted a similar question and can point me to the thread...
What is an average annual water consumption? And what is a realistic consumption for someone 'trying' to be more water conservative?
Have decided to look at my water bills and realise that on average 2 of us (both adults) are using about 100 cubic metres a year. I suspect that it is 'bad' because we both love taking baths and even if not a bath - our shower is a power shower so suspect that isn't too eco friendly...
So fess up - what are your consumption amounts - and I guess to compare would need to know number of adults and kids in the household...
Interested to know if our consumption has huge room for improvement because this might be a good place to reduce one of my big bills...

Well im wondering if ours is bad, we are on a meter in a newbuild, so small flushing loos, and no water pressure for showers, all in the name of saving the environment

I got my bill through this morning, from the start of May to the end of September weve used 20 cubic meters between the 2 of us in a 3 bed semi. We occasionally have people over for tea or sleeping so obviously usage will peak some nights with people making use of the 'facilities'. That usage came in at £93.81, dunno if thats good or not. We have a washing machine on up to 4 times a week and the dishwasher (slimline apparently uses 10l per wash, im dubious) 3 times a week.0 -
The UK average is approx 60 cubic metres per person per year..0

nothing wrong with those figures, your natures friend if you stick to around 60 cubic metres/ personTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
thanks for the replies! So we are quite alot above average... Will try and figure out how to reduce it but not sure I can without giving up baths!0

No, you are average, nothing wrong at all.0

well i was basing it on 2 of the 3 replies ;-)
Def room for improvement - will discuss with flatmate just to be more conscious of our water usage. Baths need to be a treat - and do we really need to stand under the shower for as long as we do! Other than that there's not much else - toilet already has an elephant in it, we have a dishwasher and we merge our washing so washing machine cycles are always full...0 -
I would be more concerned with your shower/bath usage from the viewpoint of gas/electricity consumption rather than water

Your consumption is below average.
Do you mean 'power shower' of electric shower' people seem to confuse the terms.
A power shower uses hot water from the tank that is pumped at high pressure and uses a lot of hot water.
If you do indeed spend a long while under a power shower, you might be better off with a bath. At least(depending on your relationship) you can share a bath.0
