thank you both, i know if the shoe was on the other foot, he would not mind if was contibuting more. i think you have to be a very strong person to accept joint responsibilities for each others debt. i know my OH has no idea that his fixed costs are so high as i do all of the finances, i dont think it will do any good me mentioning it either, what would i hope to achieve from it. nothing
so instead, everytime it bugs me i can come on here and have a good old moan to you guys
its really comforting knwing other are in similar situations as me

well done on paying so much off. My OH would be more than willing to accept my debts but pridefull old me insists on it being my debt alone. To be honest we work well this way, he is doing the savings for us and our future such as to cover maternity leave if we end up with a little sproglett.0

i had my first light bulb moment, in 2005 but it flicked off and by the time i came here properly in march 2006 i'd cleared some but added more to them. I'd been trying to get on top of things for years but never really had the money to be able to dent things. the debt figure is from March 2006 and at the moment i should be debt free in Oct 2011. If i hadn't tackled things it would have been at least 2020 so i'm pleased with how things are going even if it's slow.
but i do take into consideration that we've paid for a wedding with cash during this time, and done lots to the flat, bought a car for OH also with cash.
If nothing else at least i'm proof that this level of debt can be cleared. Funnily enough i always knew to the penny how much i owed and too whom, i even kept a book for every penny which left my current account, and i still managed to dig myself into one heck of a hole.0 -
hee hee, i cleared my debt once when i sold my share of my house to my ex. it was only 10K of debt, but cleared it all the same, and yep, somehow managed to rack it back up again. im hoping this is the last time.STARTING BALANCE JAN 09 £47,400
