The TDCi engine is a top engine. I have a Focus and it's a good drive. I'd imagine the Mondeo is the same. You're best bet is to look for a 3 year old example. Ford typically depreciate 60% in value in the first 3 years. However, cos more is lost early, the depreciation will slow as a result.

Use the following AA link to find out the cost of buying one. It is adjusted for age and miles. Plus it's the Glass's guide which is the price the motor trade actually pay for them.

I have the Mondeo Estate 52 plate, drives really well, very pleased with it. Smooth ride, plenty of space, good mpg.

  • The engine is the best of the diesel range, great cruiser but hugely economical around town too.

heavy mileage drivers find the 115ps engine a bit sluggish.

The current bonuses (which expire in about 5-6weeks time) on the new ones mean you can buy brand new as first & only owner (no pre-reg'd dodgy deals!) for under £12,750 on a new '06 plate if you go for the LX, or £12530 on the 'Edge' spec', £13,600 on a Zetec or £14,460 on a Ghia.

Then you don't need to worry about where its been before and how hard its been driven! if you're buying it for a small business you'll get it even cheaper at the moment as there's a small business user bonus available on them too.

    Hope this helps.
