Thinking of getting one with a '05 plate.
Anyone got any thoughts on whether this is a good car or not?
thanks

yes, it is a good car.
Cars of this type tend to depreciate heavily though. How much? What model, bodystyle etc.?0 -
I drive the exact same model on a 52 plate. Alloy wheels, air con, 120mph + easily (i ran out of road).
Having swore i would never own a ford again in the early 90's i was swayed to try again after the recent glowing reviews the mondeo and focus had received. Must admit i am impressed. Very nice car to drive, nice handling. However, as previously stated they do depreciate in value quite dramatically.0 -
Brilliant motor, probably the best car Ford have produced for years! The "rep's car" image spoils things if you enjoy a bit of street cred, otherwise go for it! Estate cars hold their price a bit better."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Cracking car, Grommit !
I had an 03 Estate, put 90,000 miles on it in less than three years, averaged nearly 50 mpg over its life. Never let me down.
Roomy, comfortable, goes like stink if you have to, handles like a dream.
One minor point, I have heard - the six speed box is not good if you tow anything, ratios are all wrong. But having said that if you own a caravan you don't deserve to drive such a nice car !!0 -
Had quite a few as hire cars - quite like them, and I am an Audi man! Ghia X trim is nice if you can run to it - has all the toys like leather, heated and colled seats, good stereo climate etc. Agree with the comment about gearing though - 6th is a little high, and you can find that around 60 - 70 you end up having to change down - apparently they make the gearing so tall to keep the c02 down for company drivers0

Just got a 54 plate one and am impressed with the car. Excellent performance and value for a used car. Can't wait to try it on the German autobahns:D
How much are you paying for it?0 -
I have a 53 plate estate - really good car.
Also - if you don't mind a 6 month old one... check out these guys... they normally stock them ( where I got mine )

Got the car for £8.5k, has got 23k miles on the clock.
In the back of my mind think I could maybe have got the price down a little more!0 -
Just to add i have an estate on an 02 plate and i has just sailed through its MOT, its been hammered, 92k on the clock, its a company one and were going to run it for another 12 months before we change it.

ivagoldfish,
Mine cost £8.7K with just under 20k mileage NOv 04 reg. I did buy from a dealer though and the car is immaculate. Maybe I paid too much...:o0
