Comet delivery ruined my floor

That bit on their website would only be relevant if I purchased online, which I didn't so how could that have been brought to my attention.0

It's not in their t&c anyway, so it's not binding on the customer even if they do buy online. The reason it's relevant is because it gives you a good idea of what Comet's attitude is likely to be.0

I would be tempted to say that you were so busy checking the fridge freezer for any damages in transit that it did not occur to you that they might damage your floor whilst bringing it in to the house.0

Exactly the same thing happened to us. Comet's delivery people damaged our floor and we did not notice until after they had left. We chased the delivery company and, after they tried to fob us off, my OH was so angry she wrote to one of those consumer advice guys in a woman's magazine and they deal with it. Very quickly had a letter with a cheque from the delivery company. Obviously, you might not want to go that far but at the very least be persistent and don't be fobbed off - they are responsible for the damage.0
