Comet delivery ruined my floor

I recently had a fridge freezer delivered to my house whereby the delivery guys unpacked it at the front of the house and then proceeded to push it on it's own castors along my wooden floor causing severe scratches and dents along the entire length from the front to the kitchen at the rear of the property.
Because the floor is a light oak the damage wasn't immediately visible, I didn't notice it until after they left when I managed to catch light reflecting off the floor and noticed the full extent of what had happened. Unfortunately, by then I had already signed the delivery sheet where it stated that no damage was done to the property/premises.
Where do I stand with this, I've already had a letter from the depot manager saying that Comet wont accept responsibility because I signed the delivery sheet.

Sounds like it's barely noticeable, which is not the same thing as severe. It's a shame you didn't notice it until you signed. I had something similar happen once with paintwork damaged during a delivery which I didn't notice until after they left. I just repainted that patch. But I appreciate that repairing a wooden floor could be more difficult. Is it real wood or laminate?0

Maybe your insurance would cover it? My insurance would have covered the paint work -- I checked before I decided it wasn't worth making a claim. So maybe yours does too. Hard to imagine Comet springing for the cost of repair if they've got a signed document saying no damage was done.0

If you have signed to say there was no damage done, how do Comet know it was their fault. You may not have noticed it immediately, but from Comet's point of view, you've signed to say no damage and now you're saying otherwise.
You're unlikely to get any luck with them.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Oh yeah, I too would have stood there like a prune and watched them scrape a FF all over my wooden floor.

To the OP, ignore the trolls.
You signed to accept delivery of said item, not to state that they didn't destroy your house.
Send a recorded letter to their Head of C.S, and ask them to fully investigate. Detail the way in which they moved your item over the floor, if this was the case.
They may tell you to go away, but the fact is their delivery service should investigate properly.0 -
Did you tell them it was ok to push it over your floor ? As you did not stop them pushing it i assume they thought it was ok to do so ?0

I work for a whitegoods delivery company and I would advise that you contact their insurance claims department (they should have one) and tell them what happened. Ask them for an address or email address that you can send pictures of the damage to.
It might be tricky as you have signed the paperwork saying that the delivery was ok and if there was any damage it should have been noted on the paperwork.
Comet may send someone out to inspect the damage or tell you that you've said there was no damage. It's worth a shot. They will also interview the driver and drivers mate about the delivery so get it done sooner rather than later as they should be able to recall the delivery. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
They are trained to lift, not push.
Trust me , I know...;)
I had contacted Comet within an hour of delivery and the depot manager has since replied in writing, although it took him long enough, denying any responsibility.
I have now sent a letter out to head office to see if at least they will investigate further. I just wanted to know that by signing the delivery note have I effectively signed away any rights I have against their negligence.
The fact that I didn't notice that they had caused damage to my flooring doesn't in itself excuse this negligence.0
