in Credit cards
I have just called mbna to transfer a balance from my hsbc credit card as i unfortunately had to take some cash out on my card to get the car through its mot and thought as it was my cheapest apr card 15.9% i would transfer it before being charged extortionate rates.
But mbna have told me that the feature to transfer or money transfer has been blocked on my account and they couldn't say why. so now i'm stuck owing £500 cash taken out on my credit card my apr is 28.9% and they said i would be charged daily interest?. My mbna balance has been cleared recently i made 2 large payments to clear my card and its now £25 in credit.
Can mbna change this decision the man on the phone seemed to think not how can i get them to change there mind.
I dont think i have any chance of getting another account if i close this one as i recently applied for virgin and was declined. I need to transfer to this card asap
plz help i have googled but couldn't find anything

Have you looked at your credit reports lately to see what's on there? For links, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky.
To help you further, we would need to know which cards - besides HSBC and MBNA - you have at the mo or have held recently.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Hi,
I have just applied for another mbna card and did not get an instant decline they said they would write to me with there decision within 7-10 days is this usually still bad news or do you think i may have a chance? I am in credit in my mbna account having paid it off about 3 weeks ago
my credit rating is poor/very poor but in the last 2 months i was instantly accepted for barclaycard platinum on 0% till next august. I also have flybe credit card just coming of 0% i have paid more than the minimum on every card i now have. i have 1 missed payment in the last 6 months and about 12 searches:(0 -

Why did you apply to MBNA? Both MBNA and Virgin cards are backed by the same bank (MBNA), so it's likely both will treat your cc applications the same way, I'm afraid.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Your credit history can't be that poor then. B'card doesn't dish out Platinum cards to anybody that applies.I have 1 missed payment in the last 6 months and about 12 searchesPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I applied to mbna again because my balance is now in credit and the man on the phone said it might be worth closing my old account and opening a new one but i didnt want to risk loosing the account i already have as the apr is still decent (fingers crossed). Like i say i am trying to sort this out as quick as i can really as i dont want to be stuck owing £500 cash on my hsbc card so thought oh what the hell my credit rating is already poor category what have i got to loose, barclaycard gave me a card so there may be a glimmer of hope:rolleyes:. If i do manage to get the new card though i will be closing my old mbna as not being able to balance transfer it is useless to me as i do like to shift my balances around trying to save as much money as i can0

I was extremely suprised to get my barclaycard i dont think they can go on the credit rating number because mine is really bad i am talking in the 400's just!!0

If you're not eligible for the above, the Halifax Plus card is a straight forward, no-strings deal which is not linked to your other cards.
13 months at 0% is currently available to new customers on balance transfers made in the first 90 days. There's a 3% BT fee.
The minimum monthly payment is just 1% of the balance shifted

thanks for that again i tried for a natwest card through my bank natwest and got declined, i think i tried for a halifax too around 4-5 months ago and was declined. What i will do if they try and increase my interest is just close my account, i think i can then freeze the interest rate at the previous one? i may be wrong but i think thats hoe it works from reading others stories.
what do you think my chance of getting an mbna is, is it usually bad news if they say they will get back to you in 7-10 days? i just got a little excited seeing as it wasnt a straight decline. thanka again0
