tft monitor that can connect to a vcr
i want a tft monitor that can connect to a video vcr as you can not get a tft tv for under £300
and a tft monitor is a lot cheaper (nearer half the price) a 14" would do with the correct input
can anyone help ??
thanks in advance

You'd need a proper LCD TV to do this, TFT monitors won't have a composite video input (which is what you'd need to connect the VCR to it), you can get converters that will take a composite input and output to an RGB D-sub connector (the standard analogue connector for monitors) but given the cost of them you would be better off just buying an LCD TV in the first place.
On the positive side you don't need to spend 300 quid for a small TFT TV, had a quick look on the net and found this 15" example for only £125 inc VAT:

Note I only did a quick look, there may well be better deals for this monitor or better monitors for a similar price it's just an example.0 -
To connect with VGA leads, you need a scan converter:

I bought a 19" TFT monitor about 18 months ago for 200 quid from Comet. I also bought myself an external TV tuner that can output to VGA for 35 quid.
I've been using this as a TV for the last 3 months since i stopped using it as a PC monitor, total cost of 235 quid. I've got my freeview box and DVD player plugged in and sound runs through my stereo.
So, buy yourself the following:
19" TFT with decent response time and speakers (140 quid)
http://www.aria.co.uk/productinfocomm.asp?ID=22413&SpecialStatus=1
and one of these:
External TV tuner with VGA out and remote control (35 quid):
http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10279365&pid=8&rstrat=0
And you've got yourself a 19" TFT TV for £175 (plus postage)!!
Compare this to a 19" TFT TV from Ebuyer (£250) :
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/107704/rb/21588360643
You've saved yourself £75! You could also pair it with a smaller monitor but I think you get the better value with a larger TFT.
Downside: To turn on my TV fully, I need to turn on:
TV Tuner->VGA Box
Monitor
Stereo
Freeview box0
