Buying new iPhone 3GS PAYG; will unlocking/jaibreaking affect itunes registration?
Hi,
I'd like to buy a PAYG iPhone 3GS for my sister who's on vodafone but keep the O2 sim card to take advantage of O2's unlimited 3G+wifi that comes with it. I understand this means unlocking & jailbreaking iPhone. I don't know about the process of registering iPhone through iTunes. Could anyone shed some light on this?
1. In registering iPhone through iTunes, will iTunes remember iPhone as tied to O2, thus potentially causing some problem when the phone is unlocked and jailbroken later?
2. Can I just pop in the O2 sim in another 3G-enabled phone as usual to get unlimited 3G, and let my sister register the already unlocked phone on her own computer's iTunes?
3. What should be the logical step to go for: unlocking, jailbreaking, or registration via iTunes?
Thank you.

Jailbreaking and then unlocking the phone will be fine. (the only issue is that you may not beable to do the updates for the phoen straight away as it need to be cracked again... as you have normally reverse the jailbreak update and then re jailbreak the phone)
However trying to use the iPhone sim card in another phone wont be. As there are many reports of O2 contacting the users of the sim cards via text and informtin gthem the Data usage will be stop.. This is not always the case but there are many reports of it.
Why not just wait for the iPhone to be launched on vodafone as then there will be no need to unlock it. Release date is early 2010 on vodafone0 -
You can only jailbreak an unlock a iPhone 3Gs 3.0.1, if it's running 3.1 you'll have no chance of jailbreaking and unlocking yet.0
