So it sounds like the account was not transferred back very quickly as the bill covers energy used for nearly 4 months.
You would have needed to request your preferred supplier to take back the supply, if an erroneous transfer was not agreed to, as your partner signed, the supply would not be sent back as an ET.
The bill sounds about correct for the length of time this covers and this is for the energy that you used at this time, I understand that you may not wanted to have been with E.ON. You won't have been billed by the other supplier as well.
I would however, ask E.ON why it has taken so long to produce this bill and because of this you may be able to set up a payment arrangement to clear the balance. I would also take the offer of compensation to reduce the balance.
