charity shops are good if you want acrylic yarn, I know the Acorns charity shop always stocks wool in my local town. It really depends on what kind of wool you want tbhGrocery Challenge 112.20/250.00

James C Brett marble chunky is absolutely lovely for scarves and comes in colours good for men - browns, greys, blues are all good. It's about £4.50 a ball depending on where you buy it, but that's 200g and is plenty for a lovely big scarf.
I've given a few to men for Christmas presents and they all really loved them.0 -
Stylecraft Special DK is the most amazing Acrylic yarn. It's so soft and comes in loads of beautiful colours. Most places have it for about £1.50 a ball. Try https://www.masonsneedlecraft.co.uk (or.com I can't remember!)the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0

Abakhan is great - shop in Hanley (Stoke) is an amazing haberdashers. They sell their material by weight not length!
The Range (similar to Wilkos) has cheap wool too on occasion and sometimes other slightly unusual items like circular knitting frames. Bit hit and miss on what you can get."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

I buy a lot from Kempswoolshops.com and have always had an excellent service.

I don't knit but I do know that in the old days, people would buy hand knitted items from a charity shop, unpick the wool and then knit with it. You may need to wash it or do something with it first...but I am not sure what! Try google.0

I live near the 2 actual Kemps shops (I didnt even know they had a website!) and I can vouch that their customer service is great - in person anyway!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
another fan of Kemps here. I always buy online though, have never been to the shop. Prices are reasonable and they have some real bargains when they have their sales.0
