Just popped in to say, I employ support workers. The last two adverts I have placed have attracted over 80 applicants. For a role where there are no qualification requirements, it is very, very difficult shortlisting and choosing someone for a post. If you are applying for this kind of work, try to get some experience, voluntary or with family and friends and big that up. Also, any studying you can do that is relevant helps. If you dont get the job, dont give up, the competition at the moment is fierce and every interview you do, you will get better at them and that helps too.Eat food, not edible food-like items. I will never give up, I just got too keep trying. It's tough not having any experience or qualifications but i am not stupid by any means and very capable of learning so i just wish i could push employers too see that more and its very hard by CV to do that....especially when they wont even give me an interview.0

Have you thought about catalogues or party-plan? If that's your cup of tea then give me a PM and i'll tell you a bit more and I can send you an information pack if you want one.
There is a small outlay at the start, but its straight-forward work and no skills/experience are required. I was made redundant at the start of this year and in my very FIRST 4 weeks I made £242.00 so you can make a profit straight away.

Hi JemmaLouise, I can't find the article online (it was in the Bucks Herald but the website's rubbish!) but in the paper it said the college is working with a company called Protocol National so it might be worth calling them? It says they work with colleges across the country so there might be one near you.0

I've only just managed to score a job after 5 months unemployed. What interviewers said impressed them was that I had done 3 solid weeks of work experience with a PR company and I was working on a website writing content in my (admittedly abundant) spare time.
When you have little experience, the best thing to do is be proactive and work for free somewhere as it shows initiative, motivation and it keeps you occupied in the day. If you impress the company they may think of you when a suitable position comes up but it's not guaranteed so don't place your hopes on that. Most places should at least offer you travel expenses and it doesn't affect your JSA.
Well done for staying determined, I have friends who have been unemployed for a much shorter time than you and already they're deeply depressed and finding it hard to get on with searching. An employer will be lucky to have such an upbeat person like you on their staff.0 -
