Get on your local netmums noticeboard. Lots of people on there seem to advertise their services, ironing/cleaning/hairdressing/pet sitting/child minding etc and seem to be busy. I employed a cleaner as a one off and she had 6 weekly cleans and 2 fortnightly cleans all from netmums.

  • what about working as a phone chat op, see the treadon this subject or pm me JLF
  • Thanks everyone that is a great help, i have asked around about cleaning so il see if i get any feedback from that yet. i wouldnt really like to do the phone chat op what with living with parents, be a bit of a nightmare i think.

Have you thought about catalogues or party-plan? If that's your cup of tea then give me a PM and i'll tell you a bit more and I can send you an information pack if you want one.

There is a small outlay at the start, but its straight-forward work and no skills/experience are required. I was made redundant at the start of this year and in my very FIRST 4 weeks I made £242.00 so you can make a profit straight away.

Have you had someone look over your CV? If it isn't getting you even "basic" jobs, perhaps there's something you've overlooked on it?
  • I dont mind doing catalogues and promoting businesses online, too friends and family etc but i am a little too quiet for the whole party host and that type of things.

I have had a couple of messages about businesses online that want people too promote them and get a comission from that so i am giving that a go.

As for my CV the jobcentre advisors have seen it and it's as good as can be considering i have no qualifications and not alot of work experience.

I know its not everyones cup of tea but I've made more money cleaning and ironing than anything. At one point I was full-time self-employed! It all started by asking a friend if she wanted some help for a couple of hours . . . . . You could ask your mums' friends
Once word started getting around I was getting more work than I could cope with. I wasn't driving then so I had to plan my week carefully to minimise the dashing around between jobs. Some were regular and some were one-offs like helping tidy up gardens for the winter, spring-cleans, window cleaning, clearing sheds, christmas shopping and gift-wrapping, and always tons of ironing!! I even got £12/hr cleaning rental properties!!
Its hard to ask outright for work but if you do a good job for a reasonable price, the first few people to employ you will tell their friends and before you know it the phone'll be ringing and you'll have people begging you for your services!!
At one time I worked with two other friends of mine and we could steam through the messiest of houses in a couple of hours! hope this helps

  • I just read something about my local college looking for people to work part time doing teaching related jobs - but it wasn't all academic stuff, it seemed like they were looking for people with practical skills too. I don't think you needed any specific experience or qualifications. It was about Aylesbury college but there might be similar stuff elsewhere? I'll see if I can find the article for you.

JemmaLouise, Jobcentre people aren't always the best. I'm in recruitment - if you want I'll have a look at your CV for you?
