Virgin Media V+ HD box

Thought I'd upgrade to the V+ HD box from VM for £49.
Phoned last week and was told it could not be installed until November, so we phoned again last night and were told we could not have one as there were no free installation dates. So I phoned today and was told the earliest date was JANUARY!!!!
In a moment I asked to be passed to their cancellation dept but they cut me off. Now I'm seriously hacked off with these muppets but is SKy any better? It certainly doesn't seem cheaper.
Should I just threaten to cancel?

I don't believe it!

yeah, see how you get on. Might not get your new box any sooner or atall, but you might get some kind of discount on your existing package.
Worth a go, certainly nothing to loose. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Friend was told 7th november too, seems they are in demand!0

Tip by the way - over on CableForum people say if you want to speak to Virgin and a UK call centre try just after 8am....What should I put in here that won't upset people.........0

Right - an update.
Phoned up and went straight through to cancellations. UK call centre.
V+ HD box being installed 24th October. Easy. No slots indeed!
Now I'm paying £60 a month for XL TV, XL BB and XL phone. Is that too much? Was so happy that the CS woman could get me a HD box forgot to haggle
I don't believe it!0 -
There probably wasnt any slots ..just means the installer has another one to fit in because you phoned up to complain
just wait till 25th Oct when someone comes on here and says the Virgin bloke was late coming to my house blah blah ..thats because he was round at yours when he shoudnt have been
Glad your sorted ..its worth the waitHave a nice day

You get a certain number of fault per day,a fault can take a few minutes to a few hours to fix,if at all. It's gotten worse since VM took over NTL &,in 90% of areas,VM got rid of 'in-house' Installers (not service (fault)engineers) in favor of contractors.(who get paid by the job)
More likely the original engineer was late because of this & FMC farmed out your fault to a couple of techs who were free.0 -

VM phoned today to tell me they can't come tomorrow to install the V+ HD box! They also phoned Thursday to say they COULD. They gave me a new date of 21 November - over 7 weeks since I enquired. When I tried to complain they just said "sorry we only do courtesy calls - we don't do anything else"
.
To top it all they were also coming to fix my now faulty existing VM box (which we were going to keep) - it keeps changing channels/changing volume etc of its own accord!
So now I still haven't got the V+ HD box and my existing box doesn't work properly. And as an extra present one of our discounts has run out (timeout £6 a month) and the XL package has increased to £23 and the Sky sports/movies pack has increased to £27.
Mr Branson your company is a joke, an absolute joke. ANd after 12 years my patience has run out. So lets hope Sky is better :rolleyes:I don't believe it!0
