Cheapest Line Rental for Broadband?

Options
Hi Guys,

Sorry to jump in with a question having not contributed much to the forum, but wondering if I can pick your collective brains?

I have just move into a flat in London and am looking to get broadband for me and the gf. We're not looking for too much but we don't have a tv so will be using iplayer and I buy and download a few albums a month.

What I am trying to work out is what's the best way of doing this. Is there a means of getting cheap line rental, ie going direct to BT Openreach? We don't want a phone either but would take ojne if it meant a better deal.

I've obviously gone through the best buy and recommendations and I'm an O2 customer so have factored that in. So far I have Tiscali at about £135 (after Quidco), Virgin at £160 (after Quidco, missed the £150 Doh!) and o2 at £145 ish.

How cheap can I get line rental?

Thanks for your thoughts....
Rob

All depends if you already have a line at the property.

If one is installed then you your options are rather open. Type in your postcode on: http://www.uswitch.com/home-phone/

If you do not have a phone line installed already then your best bet would be BT as otherwise you will have 2 pay for an installation charge with the other companies. BT currently have a free connection fee offer - you need to sign upto an 18 month contract however, you will not have 2 pay £100+ for it to be installed. Plus you need to make at least 3 chargeable calls a month.

BT works out at 11.25 a month if you opt for paperless billing and paying by direct debit.

Hey Robertoegg, ste_coxy has mentioned BT are currently offering a free connection under an 18 month term which is correct. It may be the case were a connection charge is not required but if you want to drop me a PM with the address details I will be more than happy to confirm that for you. Cheers. Shane.
