Not sure about that, I just recall when I was looking through the Hayves manual for the car on the secdtion on exhausts it said something like "Renault tell us the Megane is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system so no maintenance should be neccessary",
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Some Cars are made "From New" with a one piece exhaust, you cant just get a back box, you have to have the whole lot-which will then be two piece, then next time you can get a back box only.0

Done for ease/cheapness of manufacture.
Most now have a mark or swage line at the point where the system should be cut. Aftermarket exhausts are then designed to fit to this so that a back box only can be fitted. Sensible idea for once. :T Definately the wifes Clio was like that.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

My low mileage MB had it's first exhaust change at 12 years, thats about right for the marque many go much longer, i too don't think much of 6 years on a car the price of the Mini.
depending on the expected life of the vehicle in your hands a stainless might be worth it, these cheap copies usually last only a short time.0 -

The exhaust lasted longer than the car bodywork then?;)0 -
the flexi pipe on my focus went at 64k miles and 5 and a half years old. it comes as flexi pipe and manifold all as one part, £180 fitted at rapid fit. the rest of the exhaust still has another year at least in it i hope....work permit granted!0

i don't think you can definatly say the ford one is a rip off unless hiQ are fitting a genuine ford part or one that will last the same amount of time/miles as the genuine one.
often cheap aftermarket exhausts and cats are just that and you would be lucky to get a year or so from them.
the longlife stainless one seems like the way to go though if your keeping the car for a while....work permit granted!0
