Delay in Tesco mobile free credit being available on phone

Does anyone know how long it 'really' takes to receive free credit on Tesco mobile when topping up?

May have messed up for daughters birthday tomorrow as only just done it and it says it takes 48hrs for free credit to become available.
Obviously with her first and new phone, she will be eager to use it from the word go but annoyed she may now use her paid for credit first as the free credit wont be there by the morning. Had hoped she'd get her enthusiasm for her mobile out of the way at the expense of 'free credit in first month before changing her over to value credit. Most annoying part is I have had phone for about 3 weeks but wanted to leave topping it up to last minute so little if any of first month was lost before her birthday itself.(only get 1 moth for free credit then it is wipped).

Just wondered what peoples 'real life' experience of time delay is as feeling very annoyed and guilty I have wasted money.

I get my free credit with Tescos a couple of hours after topping up. It never takes 48 hours.
Have you set the phone up?
If so, text the word balance to 2112 and the phone will get a text telling you how much free credit is on.

Phoned 282 to register phone and said it was already on free credit tarif but had no balance. So registered 5 fav numbers, clubcard and then waited for couple of hrs (waiting for confirmation of favs numbers). Nothing came on phone so logged onto website and it notes changes to fav numbers will be through within 48hrs and had place for date of monthly anniversary for free credit (but it was blank cause hadn't put on credit at this stage). Then added the credit.

Just checked again and definately does have option to tell you your monthly anniversary date for free credit (which I dont think value tariff shows) so presumably is registered for that. So assuming it is set up and just need to hope it comes through. Only slight worry is I didnt actively register the phone as such myself for free credit - it just seemed to be on it already.

It sounds like you will be ok as 'it said you were already on the free credit'
Fingers crossed that her free credit comes through soon.

Thanks. Tried again tonight but nothing yet. Convinced myself that it will be OK, just a matter of when it comes through. Could kick myself as had the phone for few weeks!
She wont have much time to play about tomorrow before school so that will give it another few hrs to come through. Will phone in am and make sure all going through but doubt they'll be able to speed it up.
