NTL Broadband

Hi all Broadband users. This is my first use of the site, so apologies if this has been covered. I have not been able to find any threads relating to this query. I pay £24.99 per month for NTL Broadband. I presently run one computer at home. I want to buy another computer so that my two teenage kids can both use the net simultaneously, to avoid increasingly common fights over who can use it and for how long. What is the cheapest way of doing this?

You will need a router for around £30/£40 plus a couple of ethernet cables. A new computer will already have an ethernet port, your other one may need one at around £7.

If you prefer to go wireless, a wireless router can be got for around £40 but wireless network cards are more expensive.

You should consider moving to a cheaper provider eg PlusNet which is £14.99.

Happy to refer you (there is a benefit for me) or you can simply go to https://www.plusnet.com

Or get onto NTL and threaten to leave them for TalkTalk - depends on how long you've been with NTL.

I did this and now get 10mb for £9pm.

I have a computer down stairs which i use and my kids have one in there bedrooms, bought a router and 2 network sticks, they're just like memory sticks that they plug into a usb port on the back of their computers, all three of us now go online at the same time, well worth the money to save on the arguements.

Cost me around £80 altogether if i remember right.
