Looks pretty good for a one off fee of £150. Anyone recommmend it?

Will I need to have a certain sort of TV to receive it?

Freeview could be a cheaper option, if you don't need an aerial upgrade.
Just be aware that you won't be able to get E4 or More 4.

If want sky rather than freeview
Why not sign up for the full set for a year instead

    3m X £7.50 pm ( 2 packages)
10m x £15 ( ok its should be 9m - but might end up with 10months by time manage to cancel)
    = £172.50

Use quidco for £50 cash rebate
    £10 for buying online
    ( free equipment ./ installation)

    net cost = £112.50

all you need is your standard tv set, aslong as i has a RF input or scart(would be better) spare in the back

i have not looked at the site to see if it includes installation, it should do

they will come to your house put up a satellite dish pointing to astra2 and plug in the box and set it up for you, then you will get all the channels listed on the site

but why not sky, take a look at this

    freesat is £150 full
but you only get the free channels

sky has the free channels that freesat have and more with there lowest priced package
    sky has free installation
skys lowest paskage is £15 a month, working you have to subscribe for 12month it comes to £180,
the first 3 months is half price at £7.50 so take 3x£7.50 from £180 which takes the price down to £157.00
then if you join online you get £10 credit to your account wich i think you can use towards the price of your package, bringing the cost down to £147.00

as you can see, subscribing to sky come to be cheaper than freesat and you get more channels,

skys offer ends 31st may but they sometimes leave it longer, it is already extended to that date

    hope this has helped

(sorry for spelling is there is any mistakes)

I knew about Quidco, and the deal you can calculate with Sky, but the costs are ongoing over the years, not a one off like freesky.

Am moving into a new house and have no aerial, hence looking at freesky as it's about the same cost as getting a proper aerial installed.

You can cancel Sky after the first year, the setup is yours and and the card reverts to a FreeSat card - so the Sky/Quidco deal is the cheapest option.

So nothing extra to pay after a year of sky, you still receive all the freesky channels without paying any more...and they don't take the equipment back?

Sounds far too good a deal for my liking!

    Hi all,

I have recently got Freesat from Sky all in and running for £51.

I went to a local amateur radio rally where there was a trader selling a dish, lnb, box (cable, connectors and rawlbolts thrown in after a bit of haggling) for £30.

The freeview card cost £20 and the rally entrance was £1.

I ran the cable and with the aid of a friend set the dish up in about 20 minutes. It has now been in place for 2 months and works great.
All the angles and elevations are on the internet.

If you are able to climb a ladder and can work a compass you really are in.

Oh and when you activate the card, Sky really do try to get you to sign up to another package. Can't blame them for trying

Freesat from sky seems terrible value. Sky-free receivers are sold in lidl for 70 or 80 quid and you can get them cheaper abroad, so I reckon it works out at about 70 or 80 quid for the sky label, an encryption device you mostly won't use and the installation of very variable quality (a good DIYer can do it easily and they won't do a rush job).

This is all so Sky can have your details for marketing and it's just enough to deter BBC from launching their freesat offer which was going to happen earlier this year. C4 and five should be forced unencrypted like BBC/itv by Ofcom.
