specific car hire?

hi all

we want to test out a new car but want more than an hour test drive that you can get usually so were hoping we could hire the car we want to test (vw touran) for 24 hours or something.. We've actually got a desk we need to pick up so we'd use it for that at the same time!

Any ideas if I can hire a specific type of car from anywhere? or any other ideas?

No car hire firm will guarantee 100% you can have a specific vehicle.
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Actually Avis do a 'Select series' where they guarantee you the vehicle - but unfortunately they don't do the Touran.

has anyone used 'streetcar'? they seem to use touran's but there is a pricey joining fee before you can rent a car...
  • make sure you get one with the abs module working
  • Some car manufacturers will give you a 24 hour test drive - Peugeot is one for example. If might be worth exploring - unlikely but worth a shot?

  • I'd just go to a car hire desk and ask, if you book over the phone or on the internet as the others have said then you'll just be given the appropiate size. However if you know a local agency that has tourans just go in and ask them.

Sixt is a good bet - they tend to use VW group cars

    BMW do hire.

But to be honest, Thrifty will let you hire a van by the hour for about 7 quid. Or 24 hours for 36 quid.
