There is no "age". Its whenever they work it out for themselves and thats at school time - so 5-7ish?. But you need to keep an eye on things in case they work it out and tell younger siblings before they discuss it with you!

Say they haven't worked it out and no one has told them by 10 I think it's maybe time.
  • My theory (as a 29 year old) is if you keep believing, he keeps coming. I believe!

I was never told but once was awake when my Dad came in with my bulging pillow case - only then did i know for sure but have since chose to ignore the fact!

Gosh, I remember the night I found out, I had just watched the Last of the Sumemr Wine Christmas Special and was so excited I couldn't get to sleep and then accidentally 'saw'

Just looked up when LOTSW aired on christmas eve and it was 1988 making me 9 and a half, was I just a little slow? :p:D

I don't actually remember finding out, I think I had to be told but have no memory of that happening. I must have been about 9.

My son has just started secondary, he's never mentioned anything about it but I didnt want him getting ridiculed at school so we had a chat in the school hols and he said he knew a couple of years ago. Thats one talk over with just need to do the other one about the birds and bees lol

That's great, children playing along for the sake of their parents. The longer you believe the better the presents. I think children need to know before 'big' school. Maybe that's when the birds and the bees talk should start as well judging by all the teenage pregnancy stats out there. Again that was something I found out late about.
  • I hope my DS will be older than 5-7, I want the magic to last aslong as possible! I still try and convince my teenage sisters that Santa is real lol!

My two girls are 10 and have only just started to question whether Santa exists.

Yes, I think 5 to 7 is far too young to tell them. Fine if they find out in school, there is nothing you can do about that.
