I went to aldi's today and found some bargains:
2.5kg Marris Piper potatoes for 59p
4pints whole milk 99p
Then I visited the Sainsbury's next door and bought some nappies. I gave the SA a genuine Pedigree coupon with my nectar card and she scanned it without blinking an eyelid. Result! Will be going to her again!
Just bought my Car insurance for £350 - Tesco's missed out on this money as well!
Keep the faith - vote with your money!!!
Are you saying you went to Sainsburys and purchased an item without buying the product or did you make a typo error and mean that you handed in a Huggies coupon. It would be great if Sainsburys took coupons without purchasing the products.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Give it time :rotfl:
edit: LONDON (Reuters) - Tesco , the world's third-biggest retailer, posted a better-than-expected 8.6 percent rise in first-half profit and said it was well positioned for a recovery in its markets.
and the shares have gone down - does anyone understand the stock market
Apparently the figures are for the period to August 29th - I think this will include the period where they had loads of points promotions - I know I for one bought loads more stuff as there was a 'profit' to be made in points on many items plus of course many were bought with MOC's. All this has gone and I would have thought there would be a big impact in sales - over 50% of people on this forum aren't shopping there for the next 4 weeks for a start - that's gotta hurt

They is waiting on Coupon-mad to make a statement to the stock-exchange at around midday :rotfl:AKA; Mad, MM, MM5, Madicles  ©

Tesco's announce a 1.5% rise in profits from this time last year. Let's see if that continues!0

I have said all along that Tesco have been the one's breaking the rules on accepting coupons, as it states on each coupon that it can only be accepted when buying the specific product.
Why don't the affected manufacturer's join forces and sue the ar*e* off Tesco.
What kind of country do we live in when a supermarket chain is a superpower?
I will not shop in Tesco for the time being and although I have been very grateful for the money coupon use has saved me in the long run I will probably save a fortune by not picking up all the extras I could have lived without in the first place!!
I am quite looking forward to changing my shopping habits and I hope Tesco suffer because of this, mainly for their greed in accepting coupons in the first place. I have been using coupons in Teaco this way for over 15years now!!
Un fortunately we don't have a Sainsburies in our town but the nearest one does have the same policy,as long as they sell the product they accept the coupon.0 -
Coupon-mad wrote: »Someone on PTS posted that at least one of those stores had only recently started allowing the policy again, after previous serious coupon abuse. If they then got scammed again recently to that huge extent then my guess would be:
1. Maybe the guesstimate of 36,000 coupons (£250,000 rumour) covers the scam over a period of recent weeks?
and (as has been suggested already earlier in the thread)
2. If the staff 'didn't notice' or stop it over a period of days or weeks I would agree that there must have been an element of staff involvement (allegedly!).
This is just my opinion and it's the reason why I feel that Martin Lewis' article on GMTV was IMHO not the catalyst for the scam nor for the knee-jerk coupon ban. IMHO the timing was far too tight for such an organised and enormous fraud to have been hatched and carried out. It didn't all happen in one go on Thursday - I believe that evening was just the final straw.
If a footie team lost that much the Manager would be sacked. Even if the staff were not implicated, if I were Sir Terry I would have sacked the Managers in those stores on Friday. It would be interesting to see if the Management in these stores has suddenly changed (if any of the W Midlands posters on here still go in Tesco, that is?).
My store did this (and my powers of deduction tell me it may be the same store that KarenBB uses!). They stopped all internet prints a couple of weeks ago due to abuse, but were still allowing "proper" coupons. Last Tuesday they started taking printed coupons again, when I asked why I was told it was because they had had so many complaints. Then on Friday this happens. This to me suggests the stores had no idea of what was coming, as you wouldn't start taking internet coupons again if you knew all coupons were being stopped the same week!
Anyway, over the last 3 days I have had a lovely time visiting Lidl, Morrisons, Waitrose and Asda. Have spent £60 in cash, thats money that tesco would have expected in their till as they don't think their customers are clever enough to bother using other stores. How little they know!0 -
