I mentioned before I received UVB treatment at the hospital, this is a controlled method, where they build up the treatment by only exposing you to it for seconds at a time, I think the most time I spent in this was 5-6 minutes.

When my skin was much better, and only had an occasional flare up, I used sunbeds, only for short sessions and not for a long periods of time. I know people who have psoriasis or eczema, and use sunbeds occasionally. It's up to the individual on this. I asked the hospital if sunbeds would be OK for me to use, and I was told they couldn't recommend that, but was also not given a specific reason why.

I have also tried homeopathic medicine and reflexology, I don't know if any of these worked, but as I said before, I have had no sign of eczema at all now and I haven't used sunbeds in years.

From the beginning, I was told my eczema could disapear as quickly as it came, and it did, so who knows..

Hi Salduck, glad to hear they're finally taking you seriously! I have eczema too and it truly is frustrating when you GP has no idea how awful it can be.

I've only just managed to get mine under control after a particularly bad flare up, where I struggled to sleep and ripped my legs apart scratching. I put my cream on and then wrapped clingfilm around my legs to keep the moisture in. It really did help when I couldn't sleep for the itching and the soreness.

Other than that I simply had to learn to stop scratching. I apply tons of moisturer (Dove is a gentle brand I find) the second I get an itch, and distract myself as best as possible. It's finally improving although I have given myself some scarring. I recently starting using Dove Summer Glow Tanning moisturiser which has helped make my skin look healthier and hide the scarring. I also recommend a little sunbathing when it's a nice day as it does help soothe the itch.

Best of luck, don't let the eczema get you down!
