Hi, I really feel for you. If it's any consolation, I had this really bad around 12 years ago, was in hospital a couple of times being constantly covered in creams and bandages. Had UVB treatment for about a year too. Was left with bad scarring on my legs with all the scratching. People suggesting things for to try is good, and worth giving most of the ideas a try, you will find though, what works for some will not necessarily work for you, as everyone is different. It's a vicious circle, the more you worry and think about it, the worst it will get. Try to control it, don't let it control you.
I now have had no problem with eczema at all for about 10 years, and the scarring has faded to virtually nothing, so there is hope.0 -
My friend suffered really badly with Eczema & she found taking Udo's Oil (in a shot glass! Bleurgh!) worked for her after a few days - added oil to her skin from the inside, I guess!
It flares up VERY occassionally for her now - usually if she's really stressed. She still takes the oil daily, & uses cream if it's really bad. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
Hi guys,
i am sat here in tears and dont know what to do. I phoned my doctor yesterday and today and i cant get in to see them until Tuesday. Over the past month my exzema has got to the point where i cant sleep i am literally scratching until i have blood pouring down my legs and arms in my sleep so am now too scared to go to sleep.
I have a variety of creams and am on antibiotics. i wear cotton gloves to bed but manage to pull them off in my sleep.
I dont know what to do as I really really need help. have seen the doctor last week and 2 weeks prior to that and they have changed my creams.
Any advise to stop the itching before i do some real damage.
TIA
Sal
Hi
Several years ago, my excema was cured by a couple of visits to Jan de Vries at his clinic in Troon. This was after months of topical treatments from my GP.
Violaforce was what I was recommended by him. Took it for a few weeks and bingo, much better.
Millar: What is the best cure for eczema?
Jan de Vries: There are a lot of different eczemas and it is important that one gets a justified diagnosis. Diet is important with eczema. Acidy foods, ie anything from the pig, citrus fruits (oranges and lemons) and possibly chocolate coffee, tea, alcohol to be cut down. Milk and cheese are completely out, but one can take soya milk, and goat's. There are some very safe remedies, twice a day - 10 or 15 drops Violaforce and possibly 2 capsules of Evening Primrose last thing at night.0 -
I have not suffered eczema, but have sympathy with you - please make sure you get a different doctor with a better attitude.
I don't know if it will help but perhaps you might try to learn EFT which might give additional relief. It's a tapping technique and I used EFT after I fell down a flight of stairs (because I'm allergic to painkillers) and it worked with severe bruising and also when the pain woke me during the night I'd tap an EFT round for the pain, then an EFT round to go to sleep and I'd be asleep
HTH and you get a solution to this

Cut down on coffee and chocolate

My daughter suffers quite badly so I can sympathise, someone has already mentioned oatmeal baths, but that they made a mess. Well, if you put a cup of oats in the end of a cut off pair of tights and tie them up, you can put the 'oat bag' in the bath without it causing a mess. The bath goes all milky and this can soothe itching. I also did this when my youngest had chicken pox. Hope this helps, I know it is often a case of trying anything.0

I don't have eczema but find my spotty skin gets worse when holidaying anywhere for more than a few days - by the time I come back I have lots of blocked pores, I think it's hard water that does it - could it be something in the water from when you moved back home that did it?
fwiw my CM's kids have eczema and she was told to stop bathing them every night, it was drying out their skin and killing off friendly bacteria.
I second the oilatum baths, makes a terrible mess of the bath, but who's caring.
Good Luck with the Dr. Would your surgery let you have a nurse appointment to get your wounds dressed in such a way you couldn't pull the bandages off - go in and see the Gp's receptionist, show her your arms and ask if it can be done by the nurse - a side effect of this is it might make them see you really do need to see a GPMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
