Has anyone here received their tickets yet?
I've just emailed to find out if we are getting ours. Can't afford to book the train tickets until I know.

Ordinarily I'd wait and see but because I go as his carer, we had to post our application, rather that doing online, so its not as certain.

    Can't wait!

  • i booked ages and ages ago so i have mine already - they did take about 3 weeks to arrive i think. i would check if you have been waiting longer than this. also check out megatrain.com when you buy train tickets.

also if anyone is tentless, tescos are currently selling 2 person domes for £8. obviously not super strong but probably fine for festivals. i am annoyed with myself because i allowed myself to be talked into spending a huge amount (£120-eek!!) on an unneccessarily flashy (and not especially comfortable) tent in the camping shop. camping shops don't seem to sell ordinary tents any more, they are all really high spec!

We are now going for the full weekend..with baby in tow! Our friends will be there in camper vans so that will give us a bit of a 'base' if the weather turns sour.

I'm worried though about nappies though..should we get the eco baby ones and put them in the recycling bins, or is it best to bring them home (shuddering at that thought in hot weather!)

Food is no issue though, he is onto finger foods now, so I'll just buy fresh bread/cheese for him, or fresh fruit that I can easily mash up a little, and maybe some vegan stews etc.

    The tickets arrived today!

Got terribly excited, I must admit, and am now dreaming of floral wellies. Shame I can't get any!

I've really pudgy legs and can never get wellies to fit my calves. So, its off to West Cumberland Farmers for me, for some extra wide farmers green standards. Cheaper too!!

We ought to have a mini MSE meet there!

    Hugs,

I rearranged our family holiday to fit in the with the purchase of a new puppy so it means I'm going to miss the event.

However, I rode past the site tonight which is incredibly busy and already has a lot of vehicles, tents and marquees. I was shocked at the metal fencing that has gone up, not just around the site but around all the surrounding fields. While it is not quite like Glastonbury's ring of steel it is certainly huge and ugly.

Why do I get the sudden feeling that this is not a festival about being green, eco-friendly and having a good time and is actually more about making money for the organisers? Having seen what they have done I'm quite glad to be missing it.

I'm sceptical too as all the pre-arranged transport is by coach and they even offer tickets for parking cars and camper vans  Hardly green

    Hi

Well I have to say I loved it! My dh isn't quite so sure, but thats because he had bother on the trains - he's got ulcers and blisters on his leg and they were made worse by the journey down. (We booked tickets through the trainline.com site, with a disabled adult rail card, and they reserved seats for us on the Virgin trains. Not disabled seats as the pass indicated were needed though. So, complaint letter winging their way.)

Once we got there we were greated by some lovely friendly people on the GAMA field, got settled in, and had a fab time. I particularly enjoyed the fact that people just felt open to be themselves, and the fact that each litter section was divided into Landfill, paper/card, glass, plastic bottles, and compost. That way, people sorted their own rubbish for recycling.

Also, in each field were exhibitors doing demonstrations and workshops of their activities. In the Craft field you could have a go at Spoon Carving, making a didgeridoo, making Dreamcatchers, ceramics, and more. There were loads of lectures/discussions to go to, and the live entertainment was excellent.

Re Mikes comment re the metal fencing, I didn't notice it until they were taking some down on the Sunday. It wasn't huge and ugly, just normal farming panels from what I saw. I guess if you aren't used to it though it might come as a bit of a shock.

Also, on the subject of DFC's comment about the prearranged transport being by coach, would she prefer those who went on coaches to have driven? The aim was to cut down on the number of cars. People were also encouraged to use the trains.

That said, the car parks were full. I guess for those with Babies/Children its a huge undertaking to get on coaches and trains will all the extra kit.

All in all, we've promised to keep in touch with MH - coordinator of the GAMA area, with suggestions, and will definately be going again.
