Is £10 a month loyalty worth anything to Orange?

Hi

I posted a thread last week asking for advice which Orange themselves stalled remarkably!!

Essentially I have spent a tenner a month with Orange on PAYG for well over 10 years

I wanted a HTC Hero but phoned up retentions to suggest I was off to O2 for an iPhone and what could they do for me
(I note the lovely mobiles.co.uk folk do a good Orange deal for 20 quid a month inc 500MB of data)

Anyway the Orange lady told me they will be able to sell me an iPhone as of this Friday - which was a shock and totally threw me

Now the thing is Im still not actually sure I want an iPhone over the Hero and also I still cant see any evidence that it will be available on the 1st Oct as she said so Im probably going to try it on again tomorrow for a Hero

My question is purely what chance to I have of Orange retentions offering me anything near the mobiles.co.uk deal (who I clearly arent ever going to touch) based on over 10 years loyalty but with a modest spend?

Cheers

they are getting the iphone but not sure of the time, i was with them for less time but paying £18 a month and they hardly bothered when i asked for a pac code so i doubt you would get more than a couple of £ off the purchase price.

fyi check out the HTC HD2 (leo) o2 are getting in a couple of weeks

Orange are getting the iPhone 'sometime' before Christmas on contract, but there's no info on payg. Going by O2 prices (and Apple set the price the networks can charge) you'd be looking at between 300 to 500 for one. Maybe cheaper getting one from the Apple store.
An HTC would be a cheaper option...

Stick with the hero. The Leo will be failed by its inferior operating system, and the iPhone will leave you financially drained.

In terms of loyalty, are are unlikely to get more than a 5 quid a month reduction in line rental and a slightly lower handset price if you do go for a low end contract, unless you opt for 24 months. Just keep trying retentions till you get a better deal.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...
