    You can't do a paper application for ESA or IB any more either, very stressful.

    How do your visiting officers carry out the welfare visits / new claim visits if you dont have paper claims full stop?

    I'm surprised that they have completely scrapped paper claim forms . We use a combination of both.

    thyve been sent to the join visiting team @ the pension service who take ages and their fax machine dont work either and hasnt done for weeks despite us informing them.

    Nooooo:eek::eek:
    I found the experience bad enough as it was.

    Having calmed down I started to wonder -
    I believe there are software systems which analyse speech patterns, like lie-detectors.
    Are councils using them for claims calls?
    Several times she asked me the same question as if I was answering but not using the words she 'needed'.

    lots of ill people are housebound and wouldn't be able to visit an office, too ill to use a phone or a computer - it's a really bad idea.
  • What about people who are Deaf? Surely this falls foul of the DDA?

    I think It's disgusting to make people use phones...some people don't even own one!...They just 'assume' that you have a phone.
    What about people that hate using phones, like the ones with speech impediments?

    There are provisions made for people who are deaf. Textphones and the like - but this policy of no paper claims takes away choice.

    The vast majority will make their claims over the phone, because it is generally quicker and easier, choice is still important though.

    Textphones? It can take hours to complete forms using a textphone (and I'm not sure what you mean by "and the like" as textphones are usually the only choice).
