There is a program called "Who Crashed" which was recommended to me - didn't help because my problem was the actual start up, but sounds ideal for you.
You should get it here http://www.resplendence.com/main
Failing that try posting in Computeractive Forums http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/

Time; Evesham; Gordon Lamb; N.Power; Safestyle; Lycos; Daum; Consumer Voice/CCB Fastmap; BT; Chard, Homeserve (plumbing insurance that solves your emergency but leaves you with the initial problem); Sony.0 -

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has offered me advice and help.
After using all the suggestions not only have we not had another BSD but the whole laptop seems to be running better.
(you know I've just tempted fate lol)
Not sure exactly which bit of advice worked, maybe it was all of them
Thanks again :T:T:T:T0
