Hm, I'm trying to use the multi quote button but don't seem to be able to? The button goes red but nothing appears here in the reply box, what am I doing wrong?
Anyhoo, thanks for the chicken advice :T Our friends are selling up to downsize - from a selfish point of view this is very sad as I love going to their place in Wales - as they've retired and are giving up the B&B as well, hence the need for a new home for the chickens. They haven't moved yet though and may not before we get back as they're holding out for a good price so it may work out yet...;)
Bigmumma, you had me in stitches at the card idea, brilliant! :T Only we would understand, I can imagine some of my friends faces if they saw a card like that on the mantelpiece
Thanks Whitewing x How wonderful to be headhunted, I'd have been over the moon too! Lots of exciting things happening for you; great to see you posting again.
You do indeed BB, and I have 11 months not to panic about looking for a wedding dress  We managed to get the ball rolling with some of the wedding stuff this morning so that was good. OH's parents have offered to give us a little something towards the costs :T they just have to work out what 'a little something' is! We now have 6.5k (Dream Pot + money from my lovely parents) and hope to save some more during the 5 months we're back at work before the wedding. It is quite depressing how much these things cost but trying not to think what else I'd like to do with the money...:DThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hello dear frugalites
Top lurker and frugalite groupie here!! Still read every day so congratulations on all your doings and successes- new babies under production [Whitewing] and brides to be [Bails] oh and of course your first egg SM. I trust that in true frugal style you are either going to blow the egg so that you can retain the shell whole and make it into a decorated egg Faberge style but with trimmings from the stash that every diehard frugalite has or the shell crushed to keep naughty slugs away from seedlings:rotfl::rotfl:
Am still learning lots and frugalling daily. Meant to also thank Shaz as I'm trialling your meatloaf recipe- am making one for us and one for my Mum and it smells yummy!

Hi Bails
I'm good thanks. Enjoyed a quiet weekend as we're off to France on Friday. :jHad a funny email from the owners. I'd asked whether the villa had a TV/DVD. Why? Well we will probably need to self cater or even if we go out for a dinner we won't stay out drinking all night. So apart from cuddles, chatting, reading and the odd glass of red wine we thought we'd take some DVDs with us. Well the owners replied that there certainly wasn't a TV or DVD player and that even their grandchildren didn't feel the need for such when they were there.
I just felt a bit sheepish about it. I am sure it will be so beautiful there and we probably won't spend much time in but it will also get dark about 6 and funds are tight.
Today we went to my mum and dad's for a roast dinner (Mr SFT loves roast beef which he never gets from me). Apple crumble for dessert. Still feel full up. Dad now has 104 cans to recycle next time he goes to Mr T and is well on his way to pay for his RAC! :T
My friend has just emailed from Cambodia, so looking forward to reading his message later.
My sister is also hoping to finish paying off her mortgage in the next few years and go more self-sufficient. Amazing what she has achieved this year in her little garden.
Just got 3 more days at school. Open Morning tomorrow.

Do you have a Netbook + external DVD drive (or a small laptop) you could take instead? If you just have a netbook and no DVD drive could you borrow one or download some stuff from the BBCiplayer to watch when you are there?
Do any of your friends have a topfield or another PVR that you can download recorded TV stuff from to your netbook?
Do you know anyone with a portable DVD player?Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi all,
SM - Congratulations on your eggs-citing news!! Boom boom!
NYK - What are these fleecy curtains of which you speak?
I seem to be spending money like its going out of fashion at the momentHave blown my grocery budget again (only by about £2, but still )
Still selling on Ebay, quite slowly but so seem to be making progress on clutter mountain
Having massive problems with my internet at the moment, it would seem that my connection has been dropping out (although I have not experienced this) so BT have restricted my speed to...350kbps in order to 'fix' the problem. Yes, thats right, 0.3 megs. So, no streaming, downloading, youtube or iplayer for me anymore! :mad :mad
Have bought some lamb neck pieces, on the bone and was going to make them into a casserole in the slow cooker - should I remove the bone first or let the slow cooker do its thing so the meat falls off the bone (am concerned it will be fatty?)We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

We can take a Laptop and play DVDs but wanted to work out if we needed to. Thanks.
But was it such a strange idea! Do hope we haven't offended them. I did explain we love walking/exploring and weren't a couple of couch potatoes..:rotfl::cool: Frugal Living 2010 member MFW by 2014 Was 88,000 now £46,877.90 Grocery Budget for Dec-April=£173.72/£244 (Groc Budget 2010 from Ebay/Voucher savings/Quidco -If we can do it will save our £980 GC budget) Now living the dream -in our tiny country cottage-all thanks to MS forums. x 39 2 go

er... "multi quote button"
:o
sft lo, poor you -Totally reasonable question but I can see how it has made you look and I'd feel really embarrassed too. You'll have to go on 50 mile route marches each day now, just in shorts and tee shirts to show how hardy and self reliant you are:D.
I've been looking at the 'preparing for winter' thread as Nyk mentioned it earlier. I've had a feeling I needed to hang to a curtain on the front door and now I know I need to, so thanks for the link. Off on a fleece hunt this week to line a suitable curtain I have. I need to do something for the back door too but not quite so easy, so thinking hat on. I think I need to do somthing for the bathroom window too.
(blairw - nyk has been lining curtains with cheap £2 asd@ fleeces for added warmth)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
