Ooh, I'm intrigued too by the revelations SFT, any clues? :D

You have done a fantastic job this year BB, when you write it all down like that you must feel so proud of yourself :T I am going to aspire to be more like you once things settle down back home in whichever house we'll be living in :p

Things are starting to progress with the wedding plans :T I emailed the parish council where we'd like to get married and had a lovely email back; they're meeting soon and our plan will be put forward for approval. She also gave me contact details of the person who owns all the surrounding land so I've contacted them hoping to put a marquee nearby. If not they have a tythe barn which we maybe able to use, depending on costs. Also yesterday OH suggested we pop into a fabric shop :T so we now have swatches of the colours to send to my mum :T It's all quite exciting!:D

I had a lovely chat with my best friend from biking last night on FB - she is 13 weeks pregnant so lots of happy times ahead for us both!

Right, must go and email someone about a marquee before work, have a great day everyone! x

Anyone know when the next one appears?

Bails - Good luck with your organising from afar! :D You sound so wonderfully excited! :T

I'd be up for a meet somtime! Not sure how I'd get there though... I don't drive... :o Is anyone else going to the DFW one in Edinburgh in Dec?

Thanks Taka! :D:D Could you get a train over and then I'll pick you up from the station?

Taka, and anyone else on 101, how do you get your list into two different colours as that's what I'd like to do for things completed but can't seem to? I haven't updates since before I left but will be trying to soon peeps! A couple of new posts on the travel blog, more to come...

Have made progress with a new job opportunity over here, going round tomorrow to firm things up :T Gotta go, OH is impatient to watch a DVD!

  • bails, I asked the very same question re the 2 colour 101 lists. The reply was to write the list in word (and colour it there) and cut and paste into your blog. Any alterations you can do in word and cut and paste again.
Oh and thanks for your kind words:D

Very excited today: managed to snap up 2 tickets for a recording of I'm sorry I haven't a clue and they are rarer than hens teeth i can tell you. That's thanks to the 101 challenge that I got that sorted.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

All this talk of the 101 reminds me I really should finalise mine and then start it. Think I've actually managed one or two things on it already.

Just had a rather large credit card payment _pale_ come out of my account. I knew it was coming (and have been avoiding that credit card as it was very close to its small limit) and can cover it all, but still not nice and yet another month of low savings. On a more positive note next month's amounts owed will be relatively small so more savings.

Store cupboard challenge is going well, not going home this weekend else I would have finally emptied the freezer. Going to try a monthly online shop in ovemebr to see if it helps me save a bit more (in conjunction with an attempt at meal planning - just realised forgot to have a look at my recipe books to see what I need to make some of the meals I was going to plan ) and helps my waistline by preventing me buying spur of the moment, cos they are on offer treats.

Re the 101 list colouring - I have lmy ist as a series of text boxes (I think ) and could change the colour of stuff within them. I couldn't work out how to change the colour of the proper list box when I'd done things so numbered it myself instead.

I must update it sometime although there is very little to say still...

I'm getting too bogged down on potential PhD stuff. Months on I still can't get a straight answer from anyone on whether I am eligible (in theory) to get funding with my dodgy grades + experience or not....
    • Departmental peeps aren't bothering to finding it out despite saying they will + me reminding them. :wall:
    • The most likely funding body are refusing to deal with me directly and want Registry to contact them if there are any queries.
    • Registry say College is responsible for deciding who is eligible both academically and funding wise for full time PhDs. :wall:
    • College say my grades are fine if my supervisor is ok with it but can't possibly comment on whether they are enough to meet the minimums for getting funding for full time PhDs... thats Registry's job... :wall::wall:
    • Registry also states I should apply for all scholarships I am eligible for but won't actually tell me if I am eligible or not...
    • Part-time PhDs (my other option) are apparently frowned on in my dept but they continue to advertise them as available and I can't get a straight answer from the appropriate peeps about whether I can even do it al all on the grant I am working on at the moment.
    • my boss (and potential supervisor) is as much use as a chocolate teapot... and thats an insult to both choc AND teapots... :rotfl:
and repeat... round and round in circles... :wall:

I give up... I think I'm just going to apply for all 4 options and see if anyone will actually tell me what I can or can't do then... Mind you if I do that I'll look bloody indecisive which won't help me at all... :wall: Gaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

I just hope I pass the interview panel after all this... :rotfl: My track record with interviews is abysmal... to the extent that the interview panel for my current job (which was in the same department I was already working in) purposely chose to give me no advance warning so I couldn't get nervous! :o (they'd had to sit through a VERY painful interview from me for a different job a few weeks before - I was barely capable of coherent sentences). :o

Oh, taka, sorry to hear you are not having much with getting a straight answer! Goo don you for wanting to take a PhD though :D

On a similar note, had a letter from uni saying I have my interview on November 18th. Eeeeeek

    Evening everyone.

Sorry I haven't updated lately, I just never seem to have a chance to sit down and do a proper post. I am reading most days, but only grab 5 mins here and there. My spending is okay, October seems to be a much more expensive month than September, but never mind. I have bought some Christmas pressies this month, so that'll bump it up no end.

My placement is going well - I start teaching full lessons after half term.:eek::eek: which means I'm trying to do a million and one lesson plans, find resources and try and fit things together so a lesson flows! Its so much more complicated that it seems - teachers make it look easy.

I hope everyone is okay, sorry I can't respond to everyone.

    sf xx
