Not at all. I remember your disappointments before and now, through your determination and spirit, you have your own eggs. It's very symbolic and part of this amazing life change for you and your family. I am so happy for you all! :T

 I WOULD! The knocking on the living room window followed by frantically excited neighbour bouncing up and down on front step waving said egg in the air whilst having to wait for me to wrestle with the curtain to let her in said it all! :rotfl::rotfl: Said egg has been admired, discussed, stroked, rolled and gazed lovingly upon over cuppa and has now returned next door for safe keeping as proof positive that having hens in garden and getting first egg is fantastic! I am so glad that chickies waited for the weekend. :T:jI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Big congratulations on the egg sophiesmum, I hope that it is the first of many.
I'm not long in, was visiting my friend who is having big husband trouble, he is such a w:mad:nker!
His latest stunt is to get voluntary redundancy from his work and get around £15k. Then say to the CSA that he is not working and cannot afford to give anything for the kid, he is giving £5 per week, but by some miracle, he can go out on the town with his old bit of stuff, get tattoos that cost hundreds of pounds and buy new clothes, funny thing is that my friend cannot get a penny of the redundancy for her child................very unfair, now that is my rant over.
I have put a big joint of whoopsied topside of beef into the slow, this is my latest experiment.
There is a lot of conflicting info about what to do with joints in the slow. I have settled for putting a small amount of liquid (gravy) and some onions in the bottom and putting the joint (which I have sealed off) on top. I've set it on slow, so hopefully it will be cooked by morning.
I remember when I done a joint of gammon in it, I cooked it off for half an hour in the oven when I brought it out, so will monitor the situation tomorrow, just hope it turns out okay.
It will do for a lot of meals, it's about 5lbs, so will have for dinner tomorrow and then freeze the rest.
Speak later all. xx0 -
WOOHOO, that's so exciting SM! :j:j:T It's times like these I really wish I'd downloaded the cool backflip smileys :rotfl: How exciting for you and don't feel silly, we all 'get' it
The other day my mum mentioned that our family friend still hadn't found a home for her chickens complete with chicken coop  She was suggesting that I do take them...my family must be as mad as me
Sorry to hear about your friend's husband SL. I always find child support such a sad issue, so often used to hurt the other adult instead of providing for the child you both brought into the world. One of the many injustices of life.
Hope the meat turns out well!
Thanks for your post SFT, very touching. I too think we have a lot in commonand will be fun to meet up if the Frugal Meet takes place - that still on the cards peeps?
We are taking inspiration from our surroundings for the wedding - we are hoping to use fabric from here for prayer flag-esque bunting to decorate the marquee if we can get it home. As for the food, we need to plan something that can be made in advance with only simple preparation on the day or my mum won't be able to help herself and will get involved and I don't want her doing things on the day (she used to cater for weddings so will find this hard!). We're also hoping to use other inspiration from here but don't want to let on or there will be no surprises for BB on the day
What a great attitude about the politics SFT, not sweating the small stuff makes life so much more straightforward :T
Thanks for the vote of confidence about the cottage too; it would be lovely and I'm also staying detached from it to see what comes. If not now, then one day...:j
It's funny, when I log on to MSE I get a slight pang that I have no use for the rest of the site at the mo, or the weekly emails. I read one the other day, just for a bit of normality :rotfl: You think you're sad SM :rotfl:
It's a beautiful sunny day here today, hope it's lovely where you are and you all have a wonderful day xx
ps when we were at the Hyatt the other day - a treat for our anniversary - I thought of Janey, who I miss very much on here (Hi Janey if you're lurking x) and in her honour I liberated some cotton budsThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Bails - rehome the chickens
you know you want to :rotfl: :j:j:j. Del boy is currently announcing the arrival of Sunday morning to the world (along with several of Nyk's cockerels) but the girlies have opted for a lie in. Today I will be chicken stalking to see if I can fathom out "who dunnit ":rotfl: In the meanwhile last night's leftover rice and some bread is out for them as a little treat.:D
Taka - OH will be sampling the egg for supper tonight;)0
