Shaz: I am very impressed with how you manage your uni course and all the fabulous things that you do at home as well!

    Aww shucks ......thats nice

Funny i was only moaning about the younger ones on my course yesterday..........they are always late with assignments rarely do the homework and miss loads of clases wheras the oldies there are really dedicated despite having families and other responsibilities such as work and personal care of relatives ............................i guess us oldies have realised that if you want to get anywhere you have to work at it whereas the young ones are still a bit cocooned by parents etc and haven't learned this valuable lesson, i suppose thats all part of the growing up process ,i certainly wouldn't have been this dedicated at 19 !!

I think my health issues and the failure of my business made me determined to prove myself , not sure i will ever work in the field i am training in if hubbys retirement plans come off but i will have proved to myself i am capable.

Whoops a bit rambly there and no offence meant to younger students

Better go or I will be late in :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi guys, belated birthday wishes, sorry I've had problems logging in here and don't know why.

SM's mince pies taste delicious! :D Not anywhere near as much done here today - no cooking at all, washing all line dried, just airing to take the dampness out of it now, and the livestock attended to before the next lot of gale force winds hit us.

If I don't post, you'll know my connection is playing up or else whatever glitch is upsetting my MSE account is playing up again. Trouble is, I can't even read the posts without loggin in here, fingers crossed.

    Hi Nyk

I've had one or two glitches over time with my MSE account.

One thing you could do possibly is to set up another MSE account on another email provider of yours - an AE as they are "fondly" called on MSE ("Alternate Identity"). With that - you could at least read the thread - even if there are further occasions when you get "glitches".

Further to that - its not necessary to log in to read. I only actually log in if I want to make a post/click the "Thanks" button on other peoples posts.

(NB; on a different topic - have you managed to get it sorted out yet to get next years DFW Diary thread back onto DFW Board?)

EDIT: There is a possible "technical" reason why you may be having problems Nyk. Do you have one of the first Vista computers? I do - and that would appear to be one of the reasons I have had problems with accessing MSE before now (even though other websites were okay - perhaps its down to MSE being so huge?). It was down to the fact that the first basic Vista computers had only a pathetic amount of "memory" - 1GB (?) - and it simply isnt enough for a computer to actually function for very long apparently. MSE website "playing up" was the first indication I had in hindsight I think. A few weeks later my whole computer blew - hard drive gone - kaput...I had to have the whole "computer" bit done from scratch and now have 2GB in the course of the "repair" on this computer. The techie I paid to come and sort it explained that Vista should never have made computers with so little memory and I had been lucky to get it to a year old before it "overloaded" and blew.

Thanks for that Ceridwen, I don't have Vista, it's Windows XP on laptop. The problem was just logging in, I typed in username and password and it kicked me out saying wrong details and all my attempts used up, try back in 15 mins, which I cannot understand. I was very careful the 2nd and 3rd times in case I had miss-typed. Have reset password twice so far and it seems to be alright today. I always wondered what 'AE' meant! LOL I thought having more than one account wasn't allowed? Kind of makes a mockery of Martin's newsletter distribution figures if it's common practice, but I never trust those sort of Internet based figures anyway, I usually half them and then divide by how many actually read past the fold. :rotfl:

On another note, if we don't need to log in to read the forums, does that mean absolutely anyone can read what's on here whether or not they are registered to MSE?

    Morning everyone,
A bit of a quiet weekend here, though we did our weekly 'reduced' shopping on te way home from church yesterday and also spend £10 on a chinese last night. DH's idea, though I did eat some and I have some left for lunch today.

Thank you to whoever posted about the WII. I have now bought our 'bundle'. It comes with Fit Plus, sports and sports resort and I've bought another controller as well. So, I'm pretty sure that's all my presents bought.

Unfortunately the satnav DH bought isn't covered by insurance so it would have been nice if he'd waited or at least run it by me before buying it...but it's done now and I'll just have to juggle things around.

I've got a few packs of mini corn on the cob, which were reduced. I thought I'd do them for dinner tonight but not sure what to do them with.

Also going to do a menu plan for the rest of the month and do an online shop for everything. Maybe it will work out cheaper...!

Hope you all have a good day.

oh, shaz what course are you doing?

Also what/when/where is the meet? I think I missed that

nykyes, I do think that anyone can see what we have written as there aren't any 'private' threads.
  • Yes Nyk, anyone can read - you only need to log in to post or thank.

  • yes Nyk, I only ever log on if I want to post, otherwise I can just read, so is open to anyone.
Too much to do today and sagging slightly. So will just tick off items one at a time. A good time with family over the weekend though - a little oasis of calm.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    Hello frunshkins,

Gosh you have been all be busy. I'm dreading the next two weeks  ;). I wish I was already off work, just so much to do. I'm doing the christmas dinner this year as "MIL" passed away recently (my first proper on my own  - goose, all the trimmings and blackforrest gateau for afters, cooked it all before for other occasions so should be fine). I hope they like it as they usually had the Turkey and mince pie theme, whereas this year there'll be a German influence :) (although goose used to be the tradional bird in Dicken's times). Also have to still make a few xmas pressies (e.g. crochet - I'll post some pics soon, and cooked hamper for 'FIL"). Put up christmas tree, bake, clean .......the list seems endless, but I guess we're all in a similar situation. At the same time I'm looking forward to it all :snow_grin and I think I panick a bit because I haven't made a proper list and schedule yet which will help.
