Same here, you're all my Ciao friends! :D Is it wrong I'm really looking forward to tomorrow morning to see how many more pennies I have?!

Forgot to say on my weekend update! I was talking to OH and he's struggling a bit with paying off his debts while still actually living, so I said he can leave paying off the £200 he owes me until he's debt free. I'm just starting to wonder now though, do you think it's fair of me to kind of put conditions him not paying me the money back? It's just bugging me he complains he cant afford such and such but still puts quite a few bets on. The only condition would be that while he isn't paying me back the money he owes me he doesn't bet. Do you think that's fair?

I think thats more than fair Cinny, i wouldnt be happy if someone owed me money yet was wasting on things such as that. Would really bug me if OH was a better because when you lose its such a waste of money. OH bets £2 a week on football and i can cope with that :o
But i think your being more than fair.

ETA: It really bugs me that a friend of mine owes me a £100, i gave it to him over a year ago because he gave me the whole sob story that he and his kids would be kicked out if he didnt pay the landlord some money he owed. He cant afford to pay me back but guess wheres hes going this weekend - to France to buy fags and alcohol!!

Oh and checking ciao every morning has become part of my routine to see how many pennies i made the day before :D

Cinny with the best will in the world I think the likelyhood of him not betting is very slim. Very, very few gamblers are capable of stopping and most bet up to the amount they have spare a month and therefore don't consider it a problem. But, I would talk to him about it as you need to know he can stop as much as anything.

And for the record, yes I think thats very fair, I'd be really angry if he said he couldn't pay me back but could waste money in the bookies while saying it.

  • Yeah I agree that would annoy me as well. Unless he were to have a big win and pay it all back in one go of course!

Thanks Girls! I'm going to have a word with him tonight. I agree with you about 'betting money they have free' as OHs excuse is always 'well it's money I have left after bills' and doesn't see it as a problem. Not really looking forward to it, if he says he won't stop betting then I'll just tell him I want the money paying back like we'd planned. I know he tries hard with his budgets, but it's just one massive circle some months.

Haha, I think that's what he'll argue Tete! I wouldn't mind that either, but he has the worst luck bless him!

ETA: 30 minutes until hometime! Yay! :D Worryingly looking forward to the STP fest this Evening. That aint natural!

Thing is Cinny he doesn't have the worst luck, gambling isn't ever profitable. It is just a waste of money. Now I have no issue with a few quid a week on the lottery or in a pool at work or something, but regularly betting on football matches, slots, in a casino is not okay with me.

It didn't used to bother me too much but now I'm seriously looking to move in with him I don't want our money being thrown away gambling. The thing that worries me - and OH too - is him becoming like his friend at work. I remember one time he had £40 to get his wife something for mothers day (from his daughter, of course!) ended up loosing it all then spending £60 trying to win it back. I think it's just down to OH having the will power to stop gambling, like you said. Looks like I'm going to be stuck at work until about 5:15 ish now, I'm itching to ring OH!

ETA: Rang him! And he said okay, so I've sneakily killed two birds with one stone there :D He agreed the money saving from gambling will easily add up for bigger payments off his CC or overdraft too. See how long it lasts!

Well the STP idea has gone down the pan! Managed 8 reviews and my computer decided it didn't like STP anymore :( So that's that idea shot. Plus when I got home my brother had washed my Ma's car so that's another potential £5 gone. Out of money ideas now! Will try again on STP tomorrow night but I'm not holding out much luck. Boo!
